Oh Sharon Crying

It's looking the same here too. So much water it has no where to go.

Not done yet either - 3 more days of this. Sad

I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Sharon, is the rain letting up where you live yet? It has been raining almost non stop in Virginia, but I haven't heard any reports of the kind of flooding that is happening down your way. It was pouring again last night and raining for my drive in to work this morning. The ground is completely saturated, but so far the pond is maintaining the water level without needing the emergency spillway. Hope your trees hold up. Living in the woods, over the years we've had several weather related incidents that snapped huge limbs and uprooted trees - always a danger. Stay safe!

Hi Terri,

This is the first day we've had with no rain but it's so cloudy it could happen any time. It's also suddenly very cold, adding the lower temps to the cloudy day isn't a good mix. Taking Sunshine for her little morning walk was not a puddle hopping day, so with yesterday's wind and no rain during the night, the excess water has gone somewhere. Not so bad.

Our problem here is with drinking water. We are on the Tennessee River and the city's water processing plant is located right on the banks of it so if water overflows it can get into the plant and we have no drinking water. There are times when they've 'borrowed' water from another city but those cities that are close have the same problem, though I don't think they are all on one of the rivers. Anyway, so far, so good, but I did stock up on bottled water yesterday just in case.

No more lost trees either, though I need to go out and play pick up sticks in my yard, lots of limbs down there. I shouldn't complain, so many others lost lives and homes, devastating losses. It's humbling when you think about that. Downed limbs don't even compare.

Stay safe, Terri, and try to stay dry!

We did the same thing when I was a child. We delivered cookies, and candies to all the neighbors. I then did it too when I was newly married. Now my oldest daughter is doing it every year, and also delivering gifts to veterans she knows.

That's such a good thing to do, Karen, better even than receiving gifts. Thanks for sharing that with me!

My daughter has done it for so long in her neighborhood that she now has a lot of the neighbors doing it too. It's really nice. They have a close neighborhood and plenty of block parties for Halloween, Christmas, New Years, Bowl Games, etc. I agree it is better than than receiving gifts.
