I have been asked to submit three photographs of my tropical plant flowers, for showing in our Winter Art Exhibit. The title of the exhibit is "Flower, Fruit, and Still Life". All three are on 16"x20" canvas. I am submitting three flower varieties that Kathy has done water colors of, so my and her three will be "companion-art". Kathy is well known in the art community here so I know all hers will be accepted. I don't know about mine though.

These are the three. I have more "spectacular" photographs on canvas, but these were the only three varieties that Kathy has painted and I wanted them to be paired.

I agree, it is a wonderful idea to pair them. I'd love to see photos of how Kathy interpreted them too.

Kathy's watercolors. Paintings are hard to capture well with a digital camera, at least with my wife's camera.

Oooo, quite lovely indeed. Love them all but the sarcoglottis spoke to me, I tend to be drawn to anything green and her presentation just appealed to me.

There is no doubt @ardesia, the "Green Dragon Orchid" has the most unusual flowers of any of my orchids. They are all starting to grow inflo, so I will have a lot in bloom late winter, spring, and early summer. After changing the media last winter, these Sarcoglottis really took off.

Thank You! @plantmanager. My wife is talented. I just grow plants. One day I might buy a really great camera so that my photographic "skills" can improve.

@drdawg. You're talented too. It takes a lot of knowledge to grow orchids and tropicals successfully like you do and you're doing just fine with your camera right now..

I am interested in your photographs, you mentioned they are on canvas. Places like Costco offer printing on canvas and I was thinking of trying that one of these days. Is that how you did yours?

I did it online, @ardesia but the last photograph I had done was in 2013. I think I used Easy Canvas Prints back then but now every grocery store and drug store that has on-site processing does this. There are also probably a dozen online companies that does it. Just be sure any photograph you want done is a high-pixel one. The best results come from photographs with approximately 2000x1500 pixels or higher. The company I used back then actually indicated that a couple of photographs I submitted did not have enough pixels to transfer to canvas well. Don't forget, you are really blowing up that/those photographs. I had 18x24" and 16x20" done. I also had my photographs wrapped over the sides so that there was more of a 3-D result.
