$1.25 (Yay me!!!!). Label just says Dracaena but none of the pictures I've seen have the two tone green leaves. Some of the leaves are a solid green on this plant too. Does anyone have more information on this plant?

Kathy, you are very welcome! I have one that's about 5 1/2 feet tall and it looked so sickly ... it got left out in the hot Florida sun and fried. Yesterday I yanked every leaf off of it and watered it well and moved it to a shady spot ... now to see if it puts out new leaves. Green Grin!

You should make more guesses Lin, you're good at it. You probably have a botanist in the back of your mind, telling you what to do.

Happy New Year everyone!

LOL Dave, I'm wrong more often than I'm right on most plant ID's. Many times I just make guesses from glancing at the photo and not really paying attention to the description, etc.. Nowadays, I seem to have the attention span of a gnat! Green Grin!

I always wished that I'd studied botany when I was younger. I used to know the botanical/scientific name as well as common name(s) of every plant I ever grew but with age, my memory is really changing and now I sometimes stand and stare at a plant, drawing a blank trying to remember the name. Confused Sometimes I can't even remember the common name!

Very nice bloom shot on that Sans, you should add it to the database! http://garden.org/plants/searc...

Wishing everyone good health and much happiness in the new year!

From this 1 pic, I wouldn't be able to rule out 'Rikki.' Are the leaves smooth on the top? If not, take a look at Riki/Rikki:
Dracaena reflexa 'Riki'

I'd not heard of the cultivar with the name Riki but it sure is a pretty one ... and it's probably a cultivar of D. fragrans. I find taxonomic stuff to be very confusing ... I really should have studied Botany when I was young, maybe I'd be able to make more sense of some of it. Sighing!

There are so many cultivars of Dracaena fragrans; we have a few listed here in our database: http://garden.org/plants/searc... I'm not sure but I think 'Riki' should be listed as Dracaena fragrans 'Rikki'.

I wonder which is the correct spelling for the cultivar name for: 'Riki'? Our database shows it with one k but most sites I found show the spellling as 'Rikki' - with two k's.
http://www.dracaena.com/dracae...
http://www.glucinasnursery.com...
http://gardendiary.info/2015/0...
https://www.indoor-plants.co.u...

One of those sites shows D. Rikki with the scientific name of D. massangeana compacta which I'm sure is incorrect as there is no species massangaena according to The Catalogue of Life. I'm sure 'Rikki' is just another cultivar of D. fragrans and probably should be listed as Dracaena fragrans 'Rikki'.

A patent publication in 1998 for a new cultivar named 'Riki'.

http://www.google.com/patents/...

The present invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of Dracaena plant, botanically known as Dracaena reflexa, and hereinafter referred to by the cultivar name `Riki`.

The new Dracaena can be compared to its parent cultivar, the cultivar `Song of India`. The new cultivar is different from plants of `Song of India` and other Dracaenas commercially known and used in commerce in the following characteristics:

1. Plants of the new Dracaena have a striking and intense leaf variegation pattern compared to other Dracaenas. The dark green portions are darker and yellowish green areas are lighter on plants of the new Dracaena compared to plants of the cultivar `Song of India`.

2. Plants of the new Dracaena have thicker leaves than other Dracaenas. The thicker leaf imparts greater sucking insect resistance to plants of the new Dracaena compared to plants of the cultivar `Song of India`.

3. Root development on plants of the new Dracaena is more rapid than plants of the selection `Song of India`.

Janet, you are sooo good at this!! I'll submit a proposal to a database administrator to see if they will change the listing in our database to Dracaena reflexa 'Riki' instead of just D. 'Riki'.

Corn plant leaves are smooth. Yours look ribbed, like a Riki/Rikki.

There's several named Dracaena which look similar to this one ... but I think Riki is likely too. The leaves, besides being ribbed, are longer and narrower than others.
