100" of rain... yikes. Where in Washington gets that much? I wonder if snow would be better for your bulbs and semps than more rain. Likely to get both I guess.

Since y'all were so helpful with my last mixup I'll venture another. There's a David Ford 1994 Jovibarba cultivar 'Water Lily'. I ordered it some time ago from MCG. MCG describes it as solid green, as was the plant they sent me. But the sempervivum-list folks show it has having distinct pink leaf tips. Our database lacks any pictures.
Either way I dig it, but does anyone know which of these two below is the real McCoy?

Dallas, OR could get snow this coming Wed. Blinking
Just before we get back home.

Tim, maybe Kevin @JungleShadows can check out his CD from Fernwood to see what they show for 'Water Lily'.
MC's 'Water Lily' looks very green, but we don't know the season their photo was taken.

Yes, Kevin, can you take a look at the time of your convenience? I didn't see it on the Fernwood web site.
MCG describes it as green only. Perhaps it's new for them (likely) and they've never seen it pink up before (possibly).

I'm not on this site as much as the rest of you.

Water Lily isn't mentioned in any of Howard's books. No help there. I'm betting the pink is subtle. Don may not have wanted to say PINK and have a thousand mad customers!

I don't want snow! I have 6K daylily seedlings that are 6" tall!

Good catch, Bev... thanks.
Although I now wonder if 'Water Lily' is the same as 'Waterlily'. And in Bev's book it's pink with green tips not green with pink tips. Headache. Where did I leave my brandy glass?
Maybe I'm drunk already cuz I'm hallucinating a semp on the site banner. Way to go Jo Ann! (ge1836)

Great point. I forgot it was Jovibarba 'Water Lily'. I guess there's a Sempervivum 'Waterlily' in the book.

OOps, sorry. My Boo-Boo. DId not pay good attention of Semp vs. Jovibarba. Howard's book had photo of Sempervivum 'Waterlily', not a Jovibarba one. Sorry!

Actually there is NO Jovibarba anymore. They are ALL Sempervivum. I do sneak a "J." on my nametags as there are several names used by BOTH groups. I have the semp 'Jade' and the heufff 'Jade' for example.

To distinguish them we should be calling them S. heuffelii 'Jade' as all of those are from that species alone.

OK off my soapbox.

Do any of you have the CD from Fernwood? It might show the Jovibarba 'Water Lily'

Not so fast... back on your soapbox for a minute. I wanna know this.

OK... so 'Blue Boy' is technically Sempervivum Sempervivum 'Blue Boy'
And... 'Lemon Sky' is technically Sempervivum Heuffelii 'Lemon Sky'

Is this correct genus/species/cultivar notation?
The term Jovibarba goes to the dustbin?
Sempervivum and Heuffelii are distinct species within the same genus?

Just looked at Fernwood CD and saw that only "W" cultivar listed of Jovi heuffilii is 'Whispering'. No 'Water Lily'.

Thanks for looking, Bev!

Our Jovibarba (I know) database lists this cultivar as 'Waterlily' not 'Water Lily' which is wrong... unless I'm wrong. It will at least be interesting to watch this plant grow up.

My understanding is they are all classified as sempervivum. We still have them divided in the database. Can't remember the reasoning on that but it was good. Wish I could find where we talked about this.
