Unfortunately i don't remember its name at the moment, but it gets (brownish) red in spring if i remember correctly. I will try to find some summer/spring pictures of it. This year they're unusually bright, probably due to the soft temperatures(no frost so far) and low light conditions outside.

Julia, it will be good for you to have your own camera. What kind are you looking for?

Snarfie, I look forward to seeing spring/summer photos.

Will have to be easy to use. I mostly just use it for flowers but would like an all around one. Priority is close up and garden veiw pictures. So much fun to post here.

Julia I love Pacific Red Hawk! If your phone is an iPhone (I think it is) you tap the screen and it changes the auto settings to allow more or less light, you just have to play with it. Mine has like 4 settings so you just keep tapping the screen and look at what/how the image changes. Once you get used to your phone's camera, I think you'll like it!
I have found that the colors don't seem to be as vibrant as my camera, but the images are far clearer

Snarfie - love your semp! It really is bright! Thumbs up
I tip my hat to you.

Full sun in the Pacific Northwest today. Sunshine from horizon to horizon. I expect to see some representation in here today. nodding

'Reinhard' is a personal favorite. I look forward to it filling that little valley between the rock borders.

This makes me wonder how folks handle their semps growing beyond their borders, or simply overcrowding themselves. Both horizontally and vertically. I'm assuming some merciless pruning of chicks and stolons has to take place. Not for the faint of heart.

Tim, the pruning and relocating of chicks can be a very positive experience if you think of the many open space elsewhere that may need some filling in of these pruned chicks. You will never be satisfied until every single inch of your semp bed is filled, right? nodding

The sun is going down, so I came indoors. It's chilly out there, but oh so beautiful. Here are a few photos from today. The sun this time of day makes it a challenge to get clear sharp photos.
I love this one from Wild Ginger Farm

One of my favorite smaller type calcareum

Love the soft and beautiful coloring of this semp.

A little cutie of a semp

A really tough fuzzy semp by Gary Gossett. How could you not love this semp?

A couple more by Gary Gossett that are must haves for your collections.

More photos later. Green Grin!

Actually, I think it would look better if there was some empty space between all the semps. But you're right, all empty space begs to be filled. But I have to think a bucket full of prunings will find their way to the compost bin every now and then.

Lynn, glad to know you got out to enjoy all the sun. Your 'Pacific Red Rose' looks alot like my 'Pacific Knight'. It even has the occasional brown leaf here and there. But then again there's alot of red-tipped green leaves this time of year.

Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Pacific Zoftic') is adorable and love the name. I don't know if it is a reference to the Yiddish word Zaftic which means " plump woman"
I took pictures yesterday and really saw a difference between the ones that get more sun and were transferred to better pots

That is very interesting Ann. Wonder if that is what he was going for in that name?
The semps are looking very happy in their higher altitude.
I was outside Friday doing that very same thing with some of my strawberry pots. The soil had sunk down and the pour sedum were in the dark.

Patty the frost photos are so amazing and beautiful. The first one makes me think of the softest white rabbit fur.

Cold... dark... wet... muddy... 'tis truly the dead of winter. Sad
Yet winter rain means snow on the mountains, full rivers, and full aquifers. That means I can water my vegetable garden this year. Thumbs up

Here's 'Frost and Fire' (actually 'Frost and Flame')

Thumb of 2016-01-12/tcstoehr/47f2fe

Here's almost the same picture I posted a few days ago. Although you can see 'Pacific Shadows' in the foreground of this one. And sunshine... glorious, glorious sunshine. Sighing!

It's true, I've run out semps to take pictures of. I'm going to have to start running repeats. Hilarious!
Still, the new pictures do look different than the old ones. 'Dynamo' is looking quite more dynamic these days.

Yes, I would recommend 'Dynamo' for instant and constant gratification. Interesting in all seasons.

for the little white 'Fuego' there was too much rain. First we had a very hot summer and then the rain.. I was on vacation, and when I came back just found a dead offset. Hope that there will com a new one.

Oh no Wolfgang, I was so hoping to see that offset thrive and continue in that unique coloring. Hope another one shows up for you.

Julia and Tim, I agree about Dynamo, and the year round watermarks are a real bonus. Tim your 'Frost and Flame' is looking very good. I should go out and see what mine looks like now, except it is raining. Sad
