Since we are at a stable and reasonable number of people in our swap, I wanted to pose the question of whether we should change the send-in-by date. I know the holidays made it rough to get things together for some people and I don't want people to feel just as rushed to get them out. In order to change the date, though, I'll need a unanimous 'yes' vote since it wouldn't be fair to change the swap details on people who have already joined based on current information.

If I get all current swap members to say 'yes' or that they are indifferent, I'll change the dates to allow everyone to have a few extra days to send their seeds in. So, the question is this:

Poll Question: Do you want the seed turn-in deadline to be moved to 1/30/16? (Respond with 'yes', 'no', or 'indifferent'.)

Please note that if this change is voted into effect, I will mail your seeds out to you after the first weekend in February.

Trading is underway
Enrollment Begins: December 15, 2015
Trading Begins: January 4, 2016
Send Seeds to Host: January 11, 2016
Deadline for seeds to be sent: January 19, 2016
Finished: January 27, 2016
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I'm "yes" or indifferent ...

... when is the last day of trading? I like to wait until I have all my requests finalized in one list, and then pack my outgoing bags all in one pass. (They are split, labelled and counted before I make them available for trading.)

I forget whether the Jan 11 deadline is for SENDing the seeds to you, or maybe the last day of trading.

I assume that Jan 19 is the deadline for being RECEIVED by you?

I get busy sometimes, so it seems desirable to me to have at least a week between end-of-trading and put-seeds-in-the-mail. But I was late, once, sending my seeds in the a large group swap, and I'll never do that again. So whatever the deadline is, I WILL meet it!

Rick, Jan 19th is the drop-dead deadline for getting them out for most people doing 2-day shipping, but that's really cutting it down to the wire. Here are the requirements:

Dates and Deadlines: Please note that in order to accommodate the end-of-January planting timeline of many members, [b]the deadline for seeds to *arrive* to the host is Thursday, January 21.[b] Priority Shipping is highly recommended. When selecting which delivery method you will use, make sure that it allows your seeds to arrive by the deadline.

This deadline is so that the seeds could make it back to me in time to start organizing Friday night if need be (I wasn't sure if I'd need all weekend to organize or not...it all depended on the number of participants) and be done by early in the week after that so I could send them out and people could have them by the end of January for planting (for people in southern states) or enjoyment/anticipation (for us northerners). Smiling

(I tried to remember what I bolded and italicized since I copied/pasted from the main screen and not the host control panel where the font coding is. It might be off a bit, but the words are the same. Rolling my eyes. )

>> the deadline for seeds to *arrive* to the host is Thursday, January 21.

Ahh, now I see this:
>> Trading End, Send Seeds to Host: January 11, 2016 (8 days)

So trading ends Jan 11 and the seeds must arrive at your house by January 21.
That's ten days for packing and transit.

I'm back to "indifferent", meaning more time might be nice, but is not needed. I assume that even priority mail can easily take 4 days, and that leaves up to 6 days to pack and mail it.

That was the goal. I wanted to give people a few days to find time to pack their seeds and a couple of extra days to find a chance to get to the post office or remember to stick their box in their mailbox, and then a few days to get to me.

Glad to have you! The swap start time is based on server time, so it's a little confusing, but don't worry about that, we're just glad you're here and that you were able to get right in and start making some dibs tonight. Tonight is actually night 2 because midnight on the 4th is actually the evening of the 3rd here in the states, but don't worry, there's lots of goodies still to be had, as I'm sure you saw!
