Red yucca has been on my wish list for a long time; the only source I've found for them is High Country Gardens and I'd been hesitant to order from them after they changed ownership. The reviews have been pretty good since they changed hands so I'll probably order from them this spring.

I love primroses and for some reason have never acquired the common yellow cowslip. I'd like some other primula too, especially some hardy blue varieties.

Helianthemum have been catching my eye for years, but having never seen them grown here I was reluctant. I picked up a gallon pot of a bright orange variety last spring and it has grown beautifully. The grayish foliage is attractive and appears to be evergreen- it still looks great. I'd like to try lots of these!

@gemini_sage I am madly in love with Helianthemum. I have Ben Nevis and Hartswood Ruby. They are hard to find!! I have two on order from High Country Gardens, Ben Ledi and Rhodantha Carnea (not sure that is the same as the one you referenced above). I will scoop up any that I find!

Bluestone used to offer them, but I don't see them listed now- maybe they haven't updated the site?

Jennifer, I found them at 2 garden centers in Lexington last spring, and between the 2 there was a pretty good selection available. One had 4" pots, the other only had gallon pots- I'll let you know what I find- happy to mail some to you if you'd like. Henfield Brilliant is the variety I got last year.

Yes, I got my Hartswoood Ruby from Bluestone. Some years they just don't offer certain things. Neal I will take you up on that offer later in the year. And I'm happy to trade you the two I have already established.

Jennifer: There are plants that Bluestone carried (past tense ) that are just as well out of circulation.
A particular variety of Campanula that is so invasive I cant ever get rid of it. Spreads bu self sow as well as underground root action.
I think this is it,bought from Bluestone 8 years ago, I haven't seen it for five years.

Hi Neal- I love the red yucca too. I have ordered twice from HCG since the new owners took over-I am glad to report the service was still perfect :-). I see they have three varieties.
However, as long as this is just a "wish list", for twice as much $$, Plant Delights Nursery has a variety that blooms in Fire Engine Red.

Speaking of Plant Delights I just bought Hedychium Stephen that I have wanted forever. They kinda keep you guessing about what new hedy that they are going to offer every year.
Also an order in to Santa Rosa and I'm pondering High Country. They have great plants only to have me click on the info and it says "only in western US." Crying
I haven't figured out exactly what I WANT, but I have a deep emotional NEED for groundcovers. Hilarious!

SO I thought it would be a good idea to look at Peonies.
I wanted some of the small Rock Garden types.
O M G. $75.00 per plant. Not going to happen this year.

Neal, I know that Monrovia carries several Hesperaloe parviflora varieties so you may want to check with nurseries that carry their brand about ordering. I've seen them sold locally on many occasions, including the 'Perpa'/"Brakelights" cultivar. You can also order directly from the Monrovia site if a nearby grower has them and can deliver to your local nursery. However, I've found that the price does tend to be higher than if the nursery was selling them. In any case, you'd likely end up with a big, established plant for the same price as a tiny mail-order one. Just a thought. Shrug!

Good thinking Danita, thanks! Several garden centers around here do carry Monrovia plants.

Oh well, it was fun to get the tickets for the last week or so and all the dreaming and what ifs that went along with it :-)

Back to the smaller scale want list even if it is still pretty long Rolling on the floor laughing The latest plants that I've been looking at are hardy water lilies. I really want to get some kind of plants established along the pond edges. From Texas Waterlilies:

I've ordered from Santa Rosa Gardens, Forest Farm, Quackin Grass Nursery and Garden Vision Epimediums. I still have lots of wants but my budget is all used up Sad .
