I wasn't so sure about it at first, but I really like the seed swap tool and think it would be nice to use it for the plant swap too. I noticed that almost all of us had done online seed-swapping, which meant we needed to spend less time seed-swapping after lunch and had more time to socialize.

It was also really nice to be able to click on a couple of links and see photos and lots of information about the plant for which seeds were available.

The only "con" I can think of is more a reflection of my tendency to procrastinate: I initially used "guesstimates" when it came to the number of seeds I had to offer because I hadn't actually divided the seeds into packets yet. It worked out, though!

I agree I also really liked the seed swap tool--great idea to see if it will work for our plant swaps, too!

And welcome, Jan!! Hurray!

The seed swap tool was fantastic for organizing my seeds that had been "sold".

I do have a few more suggestions for Dave if we're going to use it for plant swaps.

I'd like the ability to request items that others don't list first. And ways to sort out my own items from the availability list, and to sort by most recent posts as well by person.

Let's go to the ATP site talk forum for suggestions re. adapting the seed swap tool... There's a fairly current "ideas" thread here, The thread "Ideas for new seed swap system." in Site Talk forum

I just sowed an entire packet of red bell pepper seeds and then realized I don't have room to plant out all of them. Blinking

I'll have at least a dozen extra plants, so if you're planning on attending the spring swap, no need to sow your own bell peppers this year! Big Grin

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
SS--you gave me this link for the pictures from the Swap. I linked to it--bit there is nothing there.
I am sure it is my problem...but I hate having to struggle to see something that should be a click away
.
SOOO-- where are the pictures from the swap????
I have scrolled up and down--but do not see them. We are now on WS topic.
And you wonder WHY I cannot figure ATP out!!!!

Getting more and more frustrated.... Gita

Gita did you check all the pages? There's more than one page of comments here.

Go to the top of this page and click on all of the pages to see what you missed.

@Jan and @gitagal - I thought I'd mention it in case you guys would prefer to not "page". There is a configurable item in your profile (the little person icon on the top left corner of the screen). It is under "Change your Site Preferences" and is called "Show how many items per page?" - it is next to last from the bottom of the list. If you set it to a pretty high number, you won't have "pages". I set mine to 500 and so far, most threads I've been following have had less than 500 posts, so I just scroll all posts from a single "page". This is a personal preference for people - some like to see less posts on a single page and like "paging", some would rather have lots of posts on a single page (making extensive use of the scroll bar) and not have to "page". The "paging" concept works well for people with slow internet speeds and/or primarily using their smart phone. I almost always access ATP from my home computer, have pretty decent internet speed, and don't really like lots of "paging" to see all posts in a thread. Dave made this a configurable item to satisfy the different preferences.

Terri, that's the reason I couldn't give Gita the exact page number for where the pictures are. I have mine set for 100 comments per page, which works well on both my iPhone and laptop.

Terri/Teri thanks for the explanation about why you'd make different choices. I knew they were there but not why one wants one or another
Plant it and they will come.

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
SS--I am now trying to find the Post where you gave me this wonderful advice to set my comments
to 500 per page, so I would not have to "page so much.. Great term for it.....Thought "paging" was
...you know.....paging.... I did it--but now i cannot find where you posted that.

One of the best ideas ever! THANKS A BUNCH!!! Thank You! Hurray!

Gita, it was actually the other Terri Aspenhill who gave you the specific instructions. I did try to change it for you at the seed swap but we didn't get to it. Aspenhill's comment is just a few comments above this one.
