Jill, I was looking at the swap list the other day and it looked like there was a thumbs up or something to add 'dibs' on an available item. Today I wanted to request SSG's candytuft seeds but can only add them to my wishlist, not request dibs. I think I've missed something, would you be able to help?

Seq, Jill extended the enrollment period so new ATP members could join the swap. That's why you're no longer able to "claim" any seeds. You can still put my candytuft seeds on your wishlist.

The trading will now begin on 1/20. At that time the "claim" icon (I think it was a treasure box?) will reappear next to available seeds.

I'm interested in iron weed, butterfly weed, and ornamental milkweed.

Oh, and zinnias, different types.

Ric, I've got three different kinds of zinnias on my seed list, and I think I have two more kinds stashed in my seed box from previous years that I'll add to the list this evening.

Oh ok, that makes sense SSG, thanks for letting me know. So if I put the iberis seeds on my wishlist, does it automatically put 'dibs' on them when trading opens up on the 20th?

Seq, I don't think so. I think the wishlist is just a visual reminder for you, but it doesn't actually do the "claiming" unless you click on the icon.

I'm going to place an order with Swallowtail Seeds this week.

They have a purple alyssum variety that I'm interested in, but I'll end up buying a few other things to justify the shipping cost. Big Grin I'm thinking about growing kale for the first time.

would love to split the purple alyssum... just a tiny pinch... please?

I'm looking at Hazzard's, since I like to get a couple of their big seed packets to share... also a good source if you want a really fat packet of zinnias, petunias, etc. If anybody sees something there they'd like, please post... if you can get a couple other people interested, the prices becomes really good. (We've done this before.)

I'm thinking pink, of course... maybe pink cornflowers (Centarea cyanus, which just doesn't sound like it should come in pink LOL), pink love-in-a-mist (Nigella umm, damascus?), Liatris spicata Flamingo Purple (looks more magenta, with dark stems/veining)... those are the ones catching my attention at present.

Iron weed! That's what those little fluffs are... I found some bagged tiny seeds and fluffs the other day that I'd neglected to label... but I do remember grabbing some iron weed seed.

And I think SSG has the way of it with the wish list and "dibs" features. Given that it's a new tool as well as one we haven't used before, I think we're doing pretty well with it. Thanks for hanging in there trying it and helping each other out!

Sure, Jill! I love white alyssum, so I'm looking forward to the purple ones. Smiling

Gita, are you talking about your profile picture? I'm still not seeing a picture for your profile. It's just an acorn.

If you want to add a picture, go here: http://garden.org/users/prefs/...

Go all the way to the bottom and click on "choose file." Then pick a picture from your computer that you want to use as your profile. If that's not what you were saying, never mind! Big Grin

Critter, I'd love some purple alyssum, too! I'm always like to have some alyssum each year.

SS--
Thanks for helping me....I followed your previous instructions. Everything was OK when i checked back.
I tried to choose an Avatar for my profile--NOT a picture of myself. A pretty flower I have in mind..

In the link you posted, above--all it says is "post a picture of yourself"... I do not see a "choose file" option.

You know--I have lived with that brown acorn for 3 years now.
I joined ATP in October of 1913.
I actually have 28 acorns to my name. I posted a lot on the Houseplants Forum and
helped JB a lot with her problems with Spider plants. Posted a lot of pictures too...

I still want an Avatar..... :o( G.

Gita,
When you click on the link that SSG provided http://garden.org/users/prefs/...

--do you see 'Managing Your Public Profile' at the top of the page?
--if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, do you see a box that says 'your avatar photo'? Yours should have a picture of an acorn in it.
--do you see the box to the right of the acorn photo? It should say something like:

To change the photo, upload a new one below:
Choose File

--then you would click on 'choose file' and upload a photo from your computer

If you are not seeing this when you click on SSG's link and scroll to the bottom of the page, then we could find someone on the site for you who could provide more detailed technical assistance.
