I have read that article too before, very informative. Gives real importance of knowing the prevailing temperature and light conditions around the plant, to help the grower successfully grow and nurture the plant. Our varying microclimates all over will not always conform. Smiling

I found Dr Dimmit's article very interesting, especially since it gives first attention to watering. So many talk light, temperature, etc first.

My daughter is in Brisbane and we did some research on care for her A obesum. That was when I first read Dr Dimmit's article.

Light and temps are essential to understand too, alongside with watering. Oftentimes what I notice is that because our daytime gets longer all the way to summer, some people forget to adjust their watering regimen when the seasons change. For me to keep it simple, more light and higher temps, more water; less light and cold, less water to none especially if it shows dormancy. But in both cases, intervals in watering and good drainage always.

For mature and adolescent adeniums this is good. However, very young seedlings are treated differently. I have talked about care of seedlings in many of the other threads.

I will be very surprised if no one pipes in to ask what constitutes mature and adolescent. Hilarious!

Oh yeah..forgot about that..the age of the plant..younger/newer ones needs more moisture, but still in good intervals. Smiling

Hilarious! Hilarious! I didn't forget it...just forgot to give it to you.

Yes, the article is interesting and a nice to know. But more importantly, the advice Dr. Dimmit gives should be followed. He has done much research and is an expert. I believe he also is involved in hybridizing adeniums.

Hurray! that is a good one. We keep it to that. At least I got it now. So I will read it often. I only think I might need a grow lamp when they finally can move to my greenhouse. Our summers our usually not the most sunny.

@Adeniumgirl
Willeke, I don't understand why you would need a grow lamp in the greenhouse during your summer. Please enlighten me. I'm all ears!

I thought I might be better, because we do have little sun most of the time.

You do have brightness in your greenhouse, right! And your plants will get some direct sunshine several hours of the day? There's a reason I am asking.
