I really like these.

I think they are the profusion Zenia , but they have so many more pettels to each flower than the ones last year.
Has anyone tried to collect seeds and grow these flowers?
I do not mind buying the plants but just when I find a flower I really like I can not find it the next year Sad

Double orange Profusion zinnia maybe? Looks like it to me.

I save seeds from my Profusions all the time. They are about the only ones (along with Zahara, another narrow-leaf zinnia) that reliably come true to form and color for me. Go for it.

I plan to collect seeds if they ever stop blooming . The flowers seem to keep their color forever.

For the first few years I tried to collect seeds, I found myself wishing those pretty blooms would hurry up and turn brown, so I could snatch some seeds.

Where I live, the constant rain resumes in Septemeber, so I've learned to bring soggy seedheads indoors before they rot, squeeze out the water, and dry them for weeks.

Hmmm, I like the Zahara, but didn't have any luck collecting seeds last year. Didn't grow them this year tho. Gonna have to try that again!

I grew Zahara last year. They produced seed like crazy.

I was growing the Rose Starlight. Pretty, although mine were mostly white with just a touch of pink. Have you gotten seeds from that variety?

Woofie, mine were the same- white with just a hint of pink as the flowers aged. I didn't like them well enough to save seeds. I like Profusions better.

This was last year.

Thank you! It's coleus. Most of my front bed is planted with them. These shots were also from last year (haven't taken any recent pics this year) , but this year is much the same.

My goodness, but those are some frisky looking coleus! I've never been able to plant them out here; they get either fried or frozen!

Woofie, have you tried the seed varieties or the cutting-grown ones? Many of the cutting-grown ones are very sun tolerant. I have some that have survived full, hot, all day sun all summer long. And they don't need a whole lot of water, either.

Great place to order them.

I've only grown a few since moving here, all from seed, and then cuttings from them. I know there are zillions of varieties, tho. Such pretty things, and the same variety grown indoors looks totally different from the ones outdoors! I'm still drooling over the one called "Rattlesnake," but too cheap to actually BUY one!
