I just moved from Huntsville Alabama to Panama City Florida. I love plants with flowers or colorful leaves. I live in an apartment five miles from the beech. Could you help me with how to care for potted plants in this climate?

Thank you,
Deborah

Hi Deborah, and welcome Welcome! to ATP.

First things first, it's not a good idea to give out your e-mail address in a post in any public forum. May I suggest you edit that out of your post above? (use the Edit link in blue in the lower right of your post) We have a private mail feature called Tree Mail here on the ATP site so people can communicate with you directly and safely that way. See the little envelope icon in the upper left blue area?

We need to know a little bit more about where you are going to grow your plants. Eg. what direction does your growing area face, are there any trees that shade the area, and will you be growing everything in pots or some things in the ground?

Hi Floridagal! Welcome to ATP!

First off .. please delete your email address. It's not a good idea to publish your email address on a public forum. It's easy to do. At the bottom of your post, to the right of the acorn and thumbs up icon you'll see Edit. Just click on that and you can delete your email address then choose save.

As to your question, we need to know what kinds of plants you are referring to as a 'one size fits all' answer just won't do the job.

Hi & welcome from a little north of where you are now! I moved to AL from OH about 9 yrs ago and caring for plants is about the same except that they can stay outside for a LOT longer down here. Guess I'm assuming you're talking about non-hardy tropical plants? What plants do you have in pots?

Welcome! Floridagal,
You found a great plant site; hope you love it here on ATP. I see that you live in an apartment. Will the potted plants be kept inside the apartment? or do you have an outside area such as a patio or yard? Did you bring plants with you from Alabama or will you be buying new plants? Sorry for so many questions.

And yes, please delete your email address from public view. Thank You!
