I was going to add this but I am unsure of what category to put it under. Any ideas?

I think it's one of the Dracaena deremensis group but is better marked than Warneckii, likely a good selection which has been named. White Bird, and White Jewel are two of which it might be.

The description given on the following link suggests that White Bird has less 'chimera' on the surface than White Jewel. By chimera I guess is meant the fire-dragon markings.

Reminds me of Dracaena fragrans 'White Stripe': http://www.bing.com/images/sea... which isn't in our database so I submitted a proposal to enter it.

There's others on the google books link which it could be, look at Kanzi which is listed under the photo of White Jewel.

D. deremensis is a synonym for D. fragrans

For comparison, here's Corn Plant (Dracaena fragrans 'White Jewel')

From a grower, White Stripe has a very broad green centre with narrow white stripe near a narrow green margin ..

http://costaverdeimports.com/p...

Jade Jewel looks best match to me, it has broad leaves with a broad green margin.

https://www.google.co.uk/searc...

This German site shows two examples of Jade Jewel which vary greatly, but both have broad leaves with a broad dark green margin.

That one wasn't in our database either so I've submitted a proposal to add it. Once it's approved I'll post the link here.

Audrey, your plant is really beautiful!! Thumbs up

Ahhh ha.... Jade Jewel. I do believe we found a winner! Hurray! Thank you Janet and Lin. I do love the bright white on this plant. You could get lost in its luscious variegation.

No, I think I just found this one. You said it was sold to you as Dracaena warneckii, but it's probably Dracaena fragrans 'Warneckei.'

Confused Confused Confused

Why not Jade Jewel? It doesn't fit Warneckei in my opinion.

I agree It doesn't fit Warneckei..
Very confusing anyway because some of the other photos in the database entry of
Striped Dracaena (Dracaena fragrans 'Warneckii')
are not agreeing with each other..

Janet, my ID could be wrong, of course. It was based solely on the assumption that the plant's original ID (Dracaena warneckii) had been misspelled.

Myriam, I'm willing to move any photos that appear to have been misidentified in that entry.

zuzu, I don't see anywhere that it was bought as Warneckei and even if it was, that is no guarantee that it is.

Janet, you don't see it because the discussion began in a tree-mail. This is getting so complicated. Esperanza mentioned to me in a tree-mail that she had a Dracaena warneckii and didn't know what to do because we had no entry for it. I told her warneckii was not a valid species name and advised her to seek an ID in the Plant ID Forum. I later ran across the entry for Dracaena fragrans 'Warneckei' and assumed that her original ID had been misspelled.

You are correct Myriam, one in particular by Paul2032 is definitely not Warneckei.

It could be Dracaena fragrans Surprise but I'm not sure ..

http://www.foremostco.com/Fore...

http://www.gardens4you.co.uk/i...

If you scroll down the page on this German site you will see Dracaena White Surprise, Dracaena Lemon Surprise, Dracaena Surprise together, then separate. 'Surprise' looks very close.

http://gaertnerblog.de/blog/20...

Aha, I 'see' how the confusion arose zuzu, but it seems Esperanza had made a guess at the name.

What a wonderful link for comparisons!

Paul appears to have submitted two photos that don't belong in the entry. The margins are the key, right? In that case, I agree that Esperanza's photo doesn't match the rest either.

How certain are we of these ID's? Do you think I should move Paul's two photos to 'Surprise' and Esperanza's photo to 'Jade Jewel,' or should all three be moved to the generic Dracaena entry?
