Hi Willeke, I also have arabicum TS Golden Bell seedlings that are still in their cribs. They sprouted exactly one month ago, and compared to my A. obesums seedlings, they are bigger and have larger leaves.

Morning Kadie. So it also has to do with the type that they look big and fat. Compared to my seedlings they are giants.

Yes! However, although they do put forth the girth and large leaves at the beginning, my obesums seem to catch up and surpass them. I'm not sure whether it's because of my weather, transplanting, or some other phenomena? I just don't know at this point as I am new to growing arabicums from seed.

Well, going to have supper now and then it's nyt-nyt. Have a very good day, Willeke!

The TS Golden bell seedlings are approx. 3 mths. (12 wks.) of age.

The Arabicums & Arabicum TS's do grow much fatter than that of the obesum. Arabicums grow much quicker than TS's. The Arabicum grow horizontally across the soil, where obesum's will grow deeper and taller.
The thing with the Arabicums is that they also are no different starting from seed than that of the obesum. In that they too, do not come true to seed and you are faced with not all seedlings growing as fat and low as you might be hoping.
They still do the culling of seedlings based on their characteristics and whether they fit the bill.

So they are a bit older than my oldest seedlings. Still the difference in size is really something.
They really do look great.
