For gardeners who like to know the weight of a certain onion, potato, or other vegetable a digital scale is a good tool. It can also give the garden cook weights of certain ingredients rather than a cup or other measurement. This is a perfect tool for kids in 4-H who display their veggie projects at county fairs in July & August. Most models are inexpensive and accurate up to 10 pounds.

I had been using standard old-fashioned spring scales for many years. The one I had could handle loads of up to 100 kilos, and the graduation precision on it was 500 grams.
