On 1/8/16 I planted a single Vera Cruz Rose seed. Noticed that it was not like the other seedlings. Had been "helping" the others along by removing the remnants of the "wing". This one just lagged behind the others and did not straighten up. Inspected it this morning and found two stems and one set of cotyledons wrapped around the other. They are beginning to straighten now. I apologize for the picture quality. Just wanted to share this and get any ideas on what I should do now. Confused

If these were mine, I would simply grow them as-is. If you want to have a double-trunked plant, you might have one. If you want to separate them, you can do so better when they grow up.

I agree some of my seedlings developed branches at young age. It is like having an instant tree.

Thanks, Ken. I am just thinking if I start digging around the roots they might break. Guess it will be fun to just let it/them go as is to see what happens. Have never had a seed of any kind grow like this....and that is a LOT of seeds!

Anyone else have a double seedling?

Thanks, Gigi. Branching early on would be very interesting. Aren't plants great? Lots of surprises, even when we don't expect them. Smiling

Yes. And if you are lucky like Ken, you might see a bloom in 14 months:

I have an Avocado doing the same thing. WRT messing around. I never do anything to seedlings at this stage. Let them grow out a bit before horsing around. That is exceptional growrg for only 9 days.

Nah, Ken. I think we'd rather keep you around here Smiling
David, how interesting...a double avocado! Yes, the germination time was good. Loving those heat mats and my new T5 lights. One problem...I want MORE Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing can't wait to see what the double sprout does today. Hopefully, the cotyledons will unfurl more. Are you taking your plumeria sprouts off the heat once they sprout? Woke up to sprouting okra seeds this morning. Decided I would start them early since they take so long (if ever) to sprout. Not kidding, soaked them on the heat mat in peroxide water Friday night, planted them Saturday morning and now it is Monday and here they are! Hurray! Of course, had not planned on them sprouting so early Blinking

I am rotating stuff on my heat maps. I only have 3 - one new the other day. If I had plenty I would leave them on til they were ~ 2 inches tall.

Hahahaha on the Okra seeds. That IS fast!!! 3 plants plant to sprout. They will likely be 5 ' tall when you take em out.

Sadly....RIP. All the more reason to plant more seeds! Would love to see that happen again. They grew to about a foot tall and then kind of dwindled away.
