Knowing that 1 package of seed should cost no more than 1$ or so max! More likely ~ 60 cents. Sigh. Of course, when I see shipping costs like that, I always say "Well - I better buy some more to make this worth while". I am sure many of you do that.

I really would like these seeds. I ain't gonna spend 8 $ for them.

I tried seeds direct in garden here, but they did not sprout for me.
Maybe should start indoors or try again.

I am thinking now that I have grown these. Pretty sure of it. I remember now the name Chocolate flower. And that appears to be one of the common names. Now I cannot find seed packs. And I cannot remember when I tried to grow them. Or how they did. Of course I am not absolutely sure I did. Heh Maybe I saw the seed packs at Earl May and considered. Oh well.

Not sure whether to blame it on;

1 - Poor record keeping
2 - Poor and faltering memory
3 - Combo of 1 & 2

Seems to me I usually start these on the mat indoors. I usually do the perennials in the winter indoors or out in the greenhouse, which gets pretty hot during the day even in winter. I have had one or two self seed, but sowing outdoors won't be reliable. I've never had a problem transplanting them.
As you can see . . . I don't keep records. If I'm particularly sharp that day I'll put a date on the plant label.

The B. lyrata seeds I sowed 1-17 (covered, room temperature) started emerging 1-29. About half are up now. The house gets pretty cool at night in the winter (55 degrees). I don't know if B. lyrata seeds like that or just tolerate it. Hilarious!

They're pretty tolerant, mine survive outside in winter and we occasionally get a light frost.
