I made a little list of "indoor tasks" to work on during the blizzard, or else I'd just be vegging out. so yesterday, I'd been meaning to clean out my spice racks for a long time. the expiration dates are mostly written in small print on the bottom, so I got out a sharpie pen and a magnifying glass! anything expired got tossed, which was about 75% of the spices !! The ones I kept, I wrote the expiration date in red sharpie on the side of the container so I could see it. I washed the two lazy susan shelves and the three cabinet shelves and added new shelf paper, then put all the spices I kept on the shelves alphabetically. Have needed to do this for a long time. Henceforth, I'll buy the smallest spice sizes available and will check before buying anything exotic, because on some, I had 3-4 of the same spice, many expired.
This AM, I made up a recipe I'd found to clean ceramic tiles, especially the grout. I won't use those commercial tile cleaners. This concoction used baking soda, dish soap, and hydrogen peroxide, and I sprayed it on and left it a few minutes. it seemed to work well! The ceramic tile shower and tile floors in two bathrooms got cleaned . We're on the back end of the storm now so hope to begin digging out later this afternoon. About13" here with possibility of 3 more, but it's mostly snow showers now.

Good for you guys who are making music! I'm a retired band director. Enjoying down time from garden work this time of year.

Wow Julie - very industrious!

After all my good intentions this morning, I took a hot shower and then crawled back in bed "for just a sec". Imagine my surprise when I woke up just now, completely disoriented as to what time it was and even what day it was LOL. I think I only woke up because my stomach was rumbling - must go downstairs and get some lunch. Good gosh, lunch time already.

I made tomato soup but bought the wrong kind of canned tomatoes. Glare It now tastes like runny pasta sauce instead of tomato soup. Sighing!

So I doubled up on the brandy. Rolling on the floor laughing But I can't taste the brandy in the soup. Maybe I should add more? Hilarious!

Fun stuff, Sally. DC is getting snow until midnight. Gusty winds too.
Time to toss on another log, get cozy with Gordon Hayward and "The Intimate Garden." Nice book recommendation, Aspen.

Sally, that is an interesting graphic. Learning Spanish is something that has been on my mind for a few years now. I've always heard of Rosetta Stone, but this is the first I've heard of Duolingo. Just googled it - online free learning! Maybe I'll get started on learning sooner rather than later.

Sorry about the tomato soup, SSG--glad you were able to salvage it with Sally's tip!

LOL SSG, I have been having Tomato Soup today as well. I think we might have a slightly different recipe. I don't use canned tomatoes or brandy. I use a very special brand. Campbells. LOL

Nice ornaments, Holly.
DH and I thundered outside for a walk. Snow up to my thighs! Did no walking, lots of cackling.
Speaking of cackling, my boring brown birds are devouring my homemade suet cakes.
SSG, another good TV series is "Luther" on BBC America. Cop drama.

I definitely would have gone for more brandy, although I've never heard of putting it in tomato soup Smiling . A hot brandy and cornstarch mixture would have thickened it up. Cheese was a healthier choice, though!

Hilarious! I'd never heard of it before, either! I found the recipe on Cooks Illustrated.

Tomato soup and grilled cheese. Perfect for this weather!
