Celia, Thanks for posting Indian Chief. I am sure that is the noid we inherited from the former owners.

OOOOPS Not the same, but if anyone has a idea about our noid, chime in.

I love Absolute Treasure! Plan to order it from Superstition when the catalog gets here. I already did my pre-order with them so need to see the damage I have caused to my wallet before I go crazy with more.

Tom, I'm anticipating your new blooms too! You've got several there that have caught my eye in catalogs! Absolute Treasure is on my Superstition order Hurray!

JoAnn, the chances of finding an accurate id of your historic are pretty slim- there are loads of historic neglectas out there, as well as plenty of unregistered seedlings. I was curious and did a google search for "historic neglecta irises" and got a quick view of a lot of options.

Stout's:
and loved getting Trey Stout as a bonus

Iris Sisters:
and a shout out for sending me Little Stitches that they didn't introduce until January

Bonnie:

I love green dwarfs!

Dee's sale - she sent me a real big assortment, hard to choose but these are special:

Legolas - no pictures of this bad boy - hope to take care of that!

I also want to thank Dee for this little MDB creation of hers - so cute and she sent 16 of them!!!

MTBs are such adorable little guys! These were just planted last summer (thanks Arlyn and Bonnie!), but look happy and I expect to see blooms this spring!

I just started my first iris garden this past summer so I am looking forward to EVERYTHING blooming (all 250 of them, hehe). In people's past experience with new irises, how many typically bloom their first year? I know that I will probably get significantly less than I am hoping for, plus the Northeast had such a strange fall and winter this year.

Thanks!

Liz

Liz, I am new at Iris, myself; however, using three years or so of focused Iris experience, I'd say...it depends. Hilarious! We do have many deeply experienced Iris folk here who can give you a more definitive answer, but I wanted to say welcome and looking forward to your photographs. Smiling

Welcome! Liz! Wow, 250 is an amazing start!!! They say to expect less than 75%. My first year I had about 90%, since then about 70%. If they are happy in their garden they will probably give pretty good bloom. Again, I am impressed by that number!
