Involucrata is wonderful although I never knew which cultivar I was given. The problem I had with it here in Southern NJ is that it didn't really begin blooming until August and didn't really crank up until fall when all its side-shoots open their blooms. It was frustrating. If I lived in an area where it didn't freeze until Christmas or after or at all it would be high on my list.

I have a Salvia involucrata that I have had for so many years that I don't remember which cultivar it is. I think I tried 3 through the years and this one has survived 7 degrees to 108 degrees and kept on ticking in my sandy soil. (at least I wish it was soil)
This year because of our extended fall, I did get to enjoy the blooms for a longer period.

The only Rose Leaf (involucrata) Salvias I grown are.....

Rose Leaf Sage (Salvia involucrata 'Hidalgo') once a few years ago.

Hybrid Rose Leaf Sage (Salvia 'Mulberry Jam') this is my favorite and I grow (with new plants) most, if not every year. I like that it isn't as large as the other Rose Leaf (involucrata) Salvias.
