Team Garden Together, or Team Enjoyed Alone?

Some things are meant to be shared, and some things are best enjoyed alone. Of course, those "things" are different for each of us! In your house, which team are you: Team Garden Together, or Team Enjoyed Alone?

Alone unless I specifically ask for help with something, and when that is finished, so is he.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I am on Team Alone also. DH is there for the hole digging and helping with the heavy lifting which has been a big help. He lugs home lots of large bags of potting soil for me as well. He loves to see the yard looking nice but would never actually buy and plant something. Hilarious! Learning the names of the various plants is not working too well. Thumbs down Once in a while he surprises me and gets it right ! Lovey dubby The hour of hand watering every day would not be entertaining enough for him. Whistling

I agree Mary, when DH is finished helping with something in the yard, he is finished! Rolling on the floor laughing

Team alone at my house too. Pretty much the same story here, DH does the heavy lifting and cuts the grass, can't tell one plant from another, thinks all flowers look the same, and can't understand why anyone would want to be on their knees digging in the dirt. Thumbs down He does like to sit on the patio and admire my work, says I did a great job!! Thumbs up

Team alone here too. My 23 yr old is still home going to college and currently jobless so he helps me with the heavy stuff so he can go on living in the lifestyle he has become used to like eating, laundry, cell phone, internet, gas, etc. LOL

I'm generally a solitary worker so I'm a member of team alone for gardening too. Various family members give me flowers and plants on special occasions and usually admire the results once I have planted them. (Which is quite polite of them as I have no artistic eye or design capabilities so my gardens are pretty bland.) They also eat and compliment the garden fresh taste of my vegetables - a sort of team effort.

Do kitties count? They follow me around and lounge or play nearby to keep me company. I used to have a miniature poodle who actually helped me weed--she watched for a while, and then started grabbing mouthfulls of weeds, shaking them violently, and spitting them out!

Our two labrador retrievers don't get to go hunting enough, so I tell them we're going hunting each morning when I go out to garden. They hunt rabbits and snakes and think I'm a great hunting guide. They also keep track of my gloves and tools for me. As far as human garden companionship, I tried hiring gardening help and gave up in exasperation. My DH will help maybe twice a year by filling the tractor with diesel or taking out an elm tree, but other than that, I do the grunge work--the mowing and weeding, and the fun stuff, the planting and pruning. Before my oldest daughter left for college, she was a creative and helpful gardening companion, and I miss having her here. I've joined several gardening clubs so I can talk to other people about gardening without getting the blank stares and eye rolls. I think I enjoyed the gardening alone far more when I was working with people all day, and the garden was my quiet wind-down place. *Blush*
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

Team Alone but hubby does the heavy duty hard stuff and always makes sure my garden(s) have plenty of mulch. I don't trust him to put it down but he brings it to me in the bobcat bucket so I don't have to walk so far.

He would never add or take away anything in the gardens without asking first.

He drives the tomato stakes, etc.

Watering, weeding, planting, is just me.

My DH takes care of the lawn and pruning trees, I'm in charge of the gardens. He hauls heavy objects for me and digs out things with deep roots. When I get the urge to make a new garden though, he always wants to know all about it - to make sure it will be easy to mow around! Hilarious!

Chris....Tried to let DH trim the crape myrtles last year and right away he broke two plants! He never watches where he steps / stands in the flower beds. Complained and got the job back... Shrug! Sticking tongue out

Are you sure it was accidental? Sounds like a great way to be sure not to be asked to help in the future.

Got to say though he does a lot around the house. The laundry for one, that is a biggy for me....I hate it. He grills our meats just about every night, and helps with the grocery shopping. All in all I have him trained pretty good! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
