I don't like the feeling of laying on them. Same with memory foam slippers. I also don't like heated car seats, they give me the same creepy feeling (something is just 'wrong' for me) and also make me feel like I've wet my pants. Personal quirk.

That is really where that lo profile boxspring comes in. The top mattresses are so darn high...added to a standard boxspring....I need a step stool...you said it perfectly - cant put on socks.

I don't have foam..I have a gel layer and a foam under that..
But my sis in law says the memory foam she has..molds a bit around her and holds her fixed in place..she says she has to put some "butt" behind it when she wants to change positions.

She does say it is not too hot as some have reported ad she is hot natured to start.

Changing the linens on the bed today, always a challenge as it's such a darned HIGH/big bed !
I MAY turn the mattress .. if I do, I'll try to see what's up with the box springs, altho, I think I'll find nothing but DOG FUR !

I find even if you turn it around there is some relief of the "Bump factor'.. not end for end ..just kinda sideways, and, YES it does stick out a bit more on the sides, but, the blankets and comforters hide that ..

This coming week we head for Sears .. gosh it'd be great if there was a sale !
Must look .. course, here it's all about IN STORE specials !!!

When i go to sears for large purchase...mattress, stove, fridge, washer..after i decide to buy, i find one of the thousand sales people --- alwys circling ..circling..for customers in those depts....waaaay too many hired in those depts and NONE can be found in clothing or the small housewares...( like try finding a sales person in the vacuum cleaner aisle ) ...anyway....
I tell them what I want and then I say...I am ready to buy, but I am not paying THAT. And I let them know I will walk to their competitor for the deal I deserve.

They always find a special deal in that binder they carry around -- or they call over a manager -- it is like buying a car.

Mariilyn...the mattress " lift " is a real problem for me. Not the back...more strength to do and it destroys my knuckles if up at the headboard or my fingers / wrist in a sprain sense at all corners. I took an old handball racket and shoved it under to pry it up. I need a longer handle tho....like tennis! This mattress ain't ideal...but is manageable. I wonder if the foam is ligjter.

I did 'turn' the mattress yesterday, paying for it today, AND, well, really no benefit .. the bump is gone, and the bed seems massively wider ..
The bed skirt .. sheesh .. it all crumpled up .. that was the worst part !!

Tell her to be merciless. They got a lot of "built in" to those prices.
They don't want to lose the deal.

We also use a memory foam cal king mattress. So far it is still good, going on 8 years now. We also got a queen sized memory foam one for one of the guest rooms this one from Overstock.com. It is also quite good, and best of all not too expensive either.

Am starting to think my $1300. budget is gonna be a pipe dream

I am going to say yes, because you can stretch a string over it and actually measure the indentation / height difference fromone side to the other.

Ours is a Reverie Zero Gravity Sleep System. I love, love, love it. It is the next best thing to being held and going to sleep.
