I'm arriving at the idea that a lot of these orchids don't like all this moving about . . . not just Phals can be divas. Got all mine indoors by about 10pm last night, and didn't even get wet in the process. (between rain showers, I guess)
About 3am it started blowing and got cold so I was really glad I did move them all. Your buds would probably have dropped with the temp change anyway. Love the colors on Suncoast Sunflares.

Ursula.. I thought you had posted a pic just last week or so.. When you guys got clobbered by a storm ..
Elaine, you were lucky.. I got soaked towards the end of the Catt. relocating and again , hours later to bring in the Vanda from the back 40.
Beautiful flowers everyone! I love that sun-something Lindsey! And the purple one, Jim! And that freckly one Elaine!
I haven't brought a thing inside yet, or covered anything or otherwise done any protecting of my orchids. Part of it is laziness and the bigger part is not having time for ANYTHING! Everyone still seems pretty happy though and I have quite a few new inflo's on things!
Here are a few pics from the last few days:
Ken, I think I sent you one of these...
I may have posted this already...it's been going strong for a while!
I'm SO excited about the two inflo's on this...it's a Schom. Gloriosa X Brassavola Glauca that I've had for a few years but it's done nothing until now. It's on a little slice of coconut that you can't even see anymore...and I keep it way up high in my ficus tree. One inflo looks like it wants to open but hasn't changed much in days. I can't wait to see these blooms!
Hey Ken, is this little 'cluster' in the middle going to be a bloom or just more leaves? Don't miss all the new growth on the ficus Alli...
Brrrrrrr! Two mornings in the mid-20's. We are warming up to an almost balmy low of 31F tonight and our lows for the next ten or so days are predicted to be in the low- 30's to mid-20's.

Ken, yes, as Lindsey said, I posted a picture showing the inside of the greenhouse with a snow layer two weeks ago or so.
I knew I had posted several years pictures of the outside as the snow was sliding off the ceiling. http://garden.org/thread/view_...
I'm excited Ken! THANKS!! Was definitely YOUR good growing, not mine! Did you see the pic of the orchid I sent you one of? Just want you to know what the bloom looks like...
Thanks Ursula, I got my Dragon from Ken. I LOVE your second story green house...it's very unique!
Be brave Gigi, I haven't moved a single thing yet!

I'm really not sure if I needed to bring everyone in again, but I'm firmly in the "better safe than sorry" camp. The temps are predicted down into the mid-40's here for at least the next week. I do know that all my plants did bloom and grow better last year after I brought them indoors than they did the years before when I didn't. Who knows if it was the cold protection, or new fertilizer, or the early spring warm-up or what?
Anyway, it's a jungle in here, and I do notice the air is really nice to breathe with all these plants in the house . ..

You are most likely doing it right Elaine, especially in Vandas and any dormant dens. I just got Dr. Motes January newsletter and I'm pretty sure you are doing the right thing.
I just wish I have the time and energy to haul mine in.
Oh speaking of Dr. Mote's Vandas, his "black Vanda" is sooo enticing I wish I win the lotto and buy one. There is lost likely a huge waiting list for it though. If you haven't signed up for his emails yet, it is worth it just to see all those beautiful Vandas.
Here's a list of the upcoming orchid shows. @IbisFla, there is one close to you....and me.
Boy I was green with envy in all the pictures take for that Tamiami festival, they had a raffle and one guy won Dr Motes Gorgeous looking 4 feet tall or maybe longer, Vanda.

This teensy Tubecentron Niu Girl opens an ever so tiny spike. I bought it a year ago and I am happy it does ok. This is one of the small Orchids which I keep right above the Fish tanks and it gets watered daily.
Ursula, I can't take my eyes off these. I love the teeny orchid, the orange bloom and I'm in love with the mount. It would be interesting to see if this will give babies for you.

It's a beautiful soft color, and so dainty. I'd imagine it will be years before it's big enough to be making any keikis, since you've only had it a year. It would maybe have been a division off a bigger plant itself not too long ago?
Are they related to Phals? The form of the leaves and the roots remind me a bit of a tiny Phal.
