First, I wanted to say that it was so wonderful meeting everyone at the seed swap. My Aunt Jan has spoken so fondly of all of her Dave's Garden friends for years and I am so happy to finally meet so many of you.

I would be very interested in the Lilies. Would it be okay for me to say that I would take $100 dollars worth and you fill my order of what you need to complete to make a full crate?

I adore lilies and have so many places to plant that I am open to an eclectic variety.

Please let me know if that will work.

Peace and love, Tara Marie [aka. Anam Cara]

Cara, that method totally works for me! Please let me know if there's a max. number you'd want of any particular variety (like would you take as many as 20 of one kind? 15?), and if there are any types you don't want (asiatic, oriental, orienpet, dwarf varieties). I'll do my best to get you a good assortment, and I won't go over $100. Smiling

Wonderful!!

I am open to whatever you all order. I will find the perfect place for them [even if they are not my favorite] :)

If you have paypal or use snail mail, just let me know in a private message where to send the money.

Very excited. Thank you so very much for organizing this.

So... for a medium pink variety of Orienpet (OT), I'm going to add 'Mariachi' to our list, and for a clear light yellow maybe Yelloween? Mariachi for sure. :-)

I'm also looking at the dwarf "Joy" series of asiatics, might have Joyanna help pick out a variety there. :-)

"Cara" means love or sweetheart in Italian, I think? That seems suited for our lovely new friend Tara, but @Anam_Cara LMK if you'd prefer me to use the long version of your screen name!

Looks like Ednie is carrying just one "Joy" asiatic that's pink (the color that seems preferred in our group so far)... and that's 'Pacific Joy', a sweet medium pink with a white center, said to have especially large flowers (for a dwarf variety).

I'm adding it. LMK if you want any!

OK... I have not been able to find much on 'Mariachi', and to me it looks similar to the more widely tried & true 'Robina', so we might go with the latter... I've asked ednie for input on garden-worthiness and substance.

I placed an order for 13 bags, everything on our list so far except 'Yelloween' -- anybody else interested in a light yellow orienpet?

Dave at Ednie says they are very similar, but Mariachi blooms about 10 days earlier than Robina. Slower growing = sturdier plant. So I'm going with Mariachi Robina. Can't resist a lily whose color is described as "raspberry." Who wants some other than me & Cara?

Cara, so far I have you down for up to 125 bulbs, but don't panic... I'll be juggling numbers, and I'll bring you under $100. Smiling You'll notice that you're down for quantities like "5-15" on a lot of the varieties. I'm trying to get you a good assortment... so far you have 11 varieties.

Me on Mariachi. You could probably twist my arm on Yelloween too - I started a lemon yellow themed garden corner in the backyard last year - yep, I'm actually broadening my horizons beyond my purple, lavender, mauve, pink color palette LOL.

Yelloween definitely looks lemon-yellow in all the photos. OK, I'll twist your arm and put you down for 5

I mis-spoke (mis-typed?)... we're actually going with Robina as being the sturdier of the two. Do you still want 5 of them, or do you have Robina still from a couple of years ago? (I tried to overwinter mine in pots; that experiment failed)

I hope your lemon-yellow corner has plenty of purple nearby -- such a great color combination, and not just because they were my high school colors! (I grew up in "Plum Borough"... not only were our school colors purple & gold, but back in the 70's our police department proudly purchased several bright purple police cruisers.)

I'll email Dave in the morning and add Yelloween. Ednie had 4 times as many bags of Yelloween on their initial list as of other oriental varieties, so they must be expecting that it will be very popular. On second thought, I'll wait until next week to add it, as we may have other things to add to our order by then as well.

I just asked him for a list of other spring bulbs and/or plants they had available... he sent me an email attachment this afternoon, which I haven't looked through yet. I'm headed to Milwaukee for a long weekend (Joyanna is going; Jim will be holding down the fort), so I'll take a look during the flight and post to see what people might be interested in.

Jill, I can't find the right thread but want to say your DG article on winter sowing is highly useful. I've printed it out and refer to it daily. Thanks!

You're welcome! It's one of the easiest ever ways of sowing seeds, not only of hardy perennials that might self-sow naturally in our area, but also for "half-hardy" (somewhat cold tolerant) annuals... or for just about everything in late april & may! I did a couple of followup articles, too. :-)

Whatever ends up happening long-term at DG, I really hope the articles remain accessible. There's so much great info there, and it's really handy to post a link to something Sally wrote rather than trying to type out an explanation of what I think I remember that she might have written LOL.

We can add to our order up to our ship date or until items are out of stock, whichever comes first. There are a few bulbs still available of most of the varieties we've ordered so far, but it's unlikely we'll have enough interest to order a second bag of any of those -- so if you see something you like on the list, speak up before it's gone!

You can continue to "nominate" additional lilies to include, also.

Pick-up will be at the spring swap, at my home in Frederick, date to be determined (probably the first or second Saturday in May). I'll get the bulbs delivered just a few days ahead of the swap (giving some margin for delay plus some time to sort the bulbs). You can also pick up at my place shortly before or after the swap.

while we're on the topic of logistics... Payment is due at the swap for people who have participated in previous group buys with me, 2 weeks before for others. If "life happens" please just keep me in the loop regarding participation & payment issues. There's usually a way to work things out, but I can't be flexible if I don't know there's any problem. :-)

I just got back from Wisconsin and am finally taking a look at the list of "other stuff" from Ednie that we might be interested in. I think Dave sent me only half the file, since it stops abruptly after listing 1 peony... I know we don't want Dahlias this year and probably not glads either (100 per variety is probably too many of any single type of gladiolus, but if anybody wants some mixed glads, I'll take some too). What about Callas? They are priced from $2-3, depending on size (a few 16/18, most 18/20, a few 20/22), in bags of 25.

I'd like a bag of white and a bag of pink calla lilies.
