I have some species tulips that have mottled leaves. But they bloom early and have smallish flowers.
Plant it and they will come.

They are pretty tulips.

The Darwin red tulips that I got a few years ago were ginormous.

some of those tulips are buried right down in the leaves; isn't that strange?
Plant it and they will come.

I planted Garden Phlox "David" and "Laura" last fall. Absolutely no sign of them yet this Spring. Should I be concerned or is it normal for them to be one of the last perennials to show their faces ?

They are late emerging, think someone posted the same concern last spring.

"Felicia's"phlox is well underway here. Good size established clump, if that helps it.
Plant it and they will come.

Funny stuff, David. :)

Felicia is apparently not afraid of a little cold weather, Sally. David and Laura must prefer the warmer temps. Oh well, I am seeing other things pop up every day and its pretty cool to be surprised, I had forgotten some of what I planted.

Most plants reappear sooner or later. Sometimes, when a season's climate is particularly unfavorable for a plant it may completely disappear, only to surprise you and come back strong the next year.

Robin, those look like the iris from Gita. I got the same and the first blooms in the clump were starting to open today.

Sally, those are tree peonies. They do bloom earlier than the herbaceous peony, my herbaceous peony won't be ready, probably have to wait for another 3-4 weeks.
