This morning was a beautiful fall type day. I was shocked at the cloud cover and enjoyed being outside for a while, even with the humidity.

Happy September! It was actually comfortable outside this morning at 6:30. I got some insecticidal soap 75% off at CVS to spray leaf hoppers on my grape vines. Have been busy freezing summer veggies --- no, not from my garden that gave up the ghost producing in July --- from Sprouts. The green beans this week are wonderful! I'm trying to teach myself how to knit socks. Lots of football ahead of us and it's nice to have something to work on.

You're a better woman than I am, Crista. I awoke at 7 a.m. and took Lexie to the groomer, went Whole Foods, resisted the nursery and home to quilt for a few hours. I'll check out my Sprouts for those delish beans you found. Just me so I don't need much!

Dug in the garden late afternoon mining for rocks. I hate those rocks. It just dumbfounds me that people pay to have this rock brought in. They really collect the heat and then radiates making everything hotter. They say it conserves water but I don't water the rocks! Blinking

Susie, if your yard is anything like ours, you'll never be done digging up rocks, LOL! That's why we are mostly doing raised beds or containers... next year making the vegie garden a raised bed, because it's hard to grow in a pile of river rocks!

I know!! It's like they multiply. I could vouch that I cleaned out a certain area 6-8 inches down. When I dig there again one day... more rocks.
I'm not to good with a hammer, saw, nails and lumber. Might have to consider hiring someone if I go that route.

Wow! Brenda! That is a fabulous product! What a reasonable solution... I love them! To be considered... I'd need to tent the little beauties to prevent the Thrashers, et al. from harvesting my seedlings, but a great solution!

Sisters of the Heart. You don't have to quilt to join. About 4 times/year people sign up to make 1 square top piece for a quilt that will ultimately be donated. The quilt has a theme, like Christmas, Spring, Fall and it may be a different type like pieced or appliqued. Everyone sends their square top (unquilted) along with a voluntary donation to cover expoenses toone of the more experienced quilters who puts it togeter. Before it is assembled, we have a vblind vote on PIX of the individual squares and the winner of that vote gets the quilt to donate to the charity of her/his choice.

SOH has a ballad. It was written using a set of defined words that had to be included in a contest (that Inky won). There is also a soap (handmade and cut) that maria (AKA: Mistirose) sells at her on-line shop that donates $1/bar back to the group. There is a signiture block label (that Barefoot T/Thunder designed in contest) that goes on every quilt. SOH also makes stuffed toys in compliance with safety regulations that get donated to fire departments to hand out to kids.

I'd really like to see this group grow.

Here are some links:

Cheryl (Denimangle) won the Christmas Quilt and donated it to a WWII veteran: http://cubits.org/craftycubit/...

Here's a link to the instructions and sign-up for the fall quilt (that we are working on now (a little late(r) than planned) : http://cubits.org/craftycubit/...

I'm tryling to find the pix of the spring/summer one (it was supposesd to be 'spring' but poor Linda (Taters55) broke fingers and she was assembling...so she continued but slowly as she healed). oh! Here it is: http://cubits.org/craftycubit/...

Anyway these should give you some idea of what it is about. Fun, good members, many amatures (like myself ....I will never win a quilt to donate but I love learning this way.

Here's the logo, soap, and Inky's ballad (it won the vote but they gave me the prize...he did get a Gray Hare in the mailbox though, usually that only happens to me!):

Join up! it's fun!

Edited to add correct link to spring quilt pix.
