I looked at the database and found it, but none of the pics look at all like this plant. Do you think it's mis-labeled?

Yes, your plant definitely is mislabeled. I can't tell you what it is, but someone else will be able to identify it. You might have to post your question and photos in the Plant ID Forum to get an answer.

Thanks, Zuzu. I'll do that. I can't believe how many plants are totally mis-labeled or partially mis-labeled and many of them are from the larger companies.

If you don't find an exact match (you may not know for sure until you see blooms) you could post your photos at the general database entry; scroll all the way to the bottom of this page to add pictures: Salvias (Salvia)

Karen, I find plants at big box stores (especially Home Depot Garden center) are often mislabeled. One of the clerks said that shoppers take the plastic labels out of the pots to read them and then place them back in the wrong plant but a few years ago a manager from a commercial nursery told me that most of their workers are non english speaking and place the tags in the wrong plants all the time but they are supposed to be checked before leaving the nursery. I think it's probably a combination of both.

I can imagine the customers do mix up plant labels all the time. I try not to remove them, and if I do, they for sure go back in the right plant.

You might be right, Lin. That looks more like it. I've had plectranthus, but it didn't look like this one. Mine had a smoother leaf and was a houseplant.
