Well, I started this earlier, but Stan came in for lunch so here we go again:
Happy Autumnal Equinox. Did anyone stand an egg on it's end?

Porkpal, I almost hate to write this, but we are having a downpour. The day started out sunny and cool, turned cloudy and humid and warm and now is just plain wet and cooling off. Fairly typical fall weather, actually.

My granddaughter and I are going to the Quilt Around Chautauqua tomorrow. We will look at a few of the quilts, but mostly we go for the fun stuff the vendors have. My mom may go with us, unless it rains. We are in it wet or dry.

Nope, haven't ever done the egg thing. Been cloudy here all day. this morning we went up to the other place and SU cleaned out the cement pad where the feed wagon is. It's alot easier if I am there......helping get hooked up to the feeder and shoveling out corners where he can't get to with the bucket. He had a good spreader full till he got done.

He just left to go cut a bucketload of wood...........me????...................guess I'll go mow the estate. And make it an estate again.

Must be everyone is busy. I'm busy having a cold and being very ticked off about it - some lovely late summer days and I'm missing them because I just don't have the energy. O well, next week is supposed to be filled with lovely autumn days. I'll rest up for it.

SU must have gotten cold...........he just went and started the outside woodburner. LOL

Still supposed to be quite a bit above freezing at night, so I'm not moving plants in till next week. I have a pickup for clients scheduled for next Thursday, Oct. 6th. These are for the ones in Madison, an hour away. The local ones aren't a problem.

had a couple days of rain, the yard sure greened up alot. Spose I'll have to mow again. Big Grin

Canning peaches. They make the house smell sooooo goooood!

Kathleen, I'm always bummed when I am sick during nice weather. It's bad enough when there is nothing that can be done outside.

We are having days in the 70's mostly, and no frost yet. Some of our corn is finally ready to eat. This has been such a goofy weather year that I wondered if the corn or the frost would win the race. No frost in the forecast for the next week at least.

Lambing season will begin about 10 days earlier than planned, next Feb. The rams got out of their pen last week and joined the ladies a few days early. We always hold our breath on the weather during lambing season. This will be at the same time when we planned for it a few years ago, (weather was usually nasty) before the current buyer wanted the lambs a little lighter but at the same time he usually bought them.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Well it has stopped, but at least it still knows how. Perhaps there is more on the way.

The rain gauge in front of the barn says 2/3" , the one in the "alley" says 3/4". Either way it is a lot more than we've gotten before! Things already look greener - probably just got the dust washed off. I guess the dead trees are still dead.

Um, it's been October for three days now...

The little bit of rain we got last week is causing some of the grass to resprout. The native grasses still look dead, but the Bermuda and Bahia grasses are sending up new shoots! Pastures that were just dead dirt last week are putting on a thin veneer of green!

What kinds of grass are in your pastures?
