Judi P (our HHS president) and I plan to be there from at least Fri. pm through Sat. pm. Hope you can make it!

Forgot to mention - he has A LOT of hosta to choose from as well at Land of the Giants. If you love the big ones like I do, you could be in even more trouble.

I just Map Quested it -- 4 hours from my place to his!!!

When you get to his street, you will swear that you are in the wrong place (until you get out of the car and look down the hill behind the house). The gardens are huge and he digs as you buy. Great display plants too.

You aren't the first to call me the "e" word. Guess I need a big scarlet "E" on my shoulder.

Anyway, the people are great and you'd be ready to re-gather even closer for the Hallson's Iowa gathering, since most of them are the same people and we picnic together each year at people's places in the northern half of Iowa. They love to have other hosta people visit their gardens, too.

I feel a roadtrip coming on!!!!

The first annual Hosta Seed Growers gathering was really fun. We went for steak on Friday night and were absolutely stuffed. Several of us from Iowa gathered in the parking lot and gabbed for a good hour before going to our rooms to rest up for the day on Sat. Lots of gab as the circle of chairs expanded each time another person or couple arrived. Great pot luck and lots of door prizes supplied by Jeff of LOG, and some hosta from Mark Zillis. Everyone got a Powder Keg (streaked Powder Blue) and odd Blue Mouse Ears based hosta (don't know if they were imperfect tissue culture, or what}, and soy candles that Jeff and his wife make, along with a choice from a table of other stuff. Good food, company, and general chat.
They plan to do it every year and share knowledge of growing seedlings with other growers all around the world. There will be an auction of the Hosta Library very soon to fund the gathering and contests they will have next year. Gonna be even more fun.
Check the Hosta Seed Growers site for pics and more discussion soon. Jeff wanted everyone to hold off to do some trivia and include the people who couldn't be there first with a few prizes, then people can post and such.

Oh that sounds lovely! I bet Powder Blue is gorgeous -- I just love Blue Hostas!! Cant wait to see some pics!!!
