I am wondering if this one that I posted is Custard Candy?? Name seems familiar, thinking I may have bought this along the way.

This one is a seedling I got from Michele in a mixed box, summer before last. First time blooming for me. The bloom is huge (as big as my hand, as you can see) and has a nice fragrance.

I just came from Home Depot with 12 pots worth of these. Only problem and which I used to my purchase advantage in discount is that all were labeled "Daring Deception" I'm clueless and these are my first every day lilies.
I'll try another Home Depot, but for now seeing if anyone has a simple clue.

The previous three pics in order are:
Cosmopolitan
Campfire Embers
Daring Deception

It only took 3 Home Depot visits to find correct labels.

I know nothing about day lilies, so don't know how one judges "beauty". I am sure there are "experts" who judge form/color, but to my eyes, this is a beautiful flower. I have emailed the lady that donated these plants to me and asked if this particular variety has a name. I think she originally got it from a professional hybridizer, so perhaps it will be named. I like to have my plants properly labeled. Thumbs up

The color of mine is a deep burgundy and the throat is a bright lemon-lime (is that even the proper term?). Perhaps it will lighten as it ages but the reason these were given to me was because it was hybridized by a Mississippi State University professor and he was after a maroon flower. Maroon is the major color of MSU. Since I live in Starkville and am an MSU fan, she thought it would be a fitting color in my landscape (actually, its in my raised vegetable garden).

Ken,
Without knowing any stats on the bloom height and size, my guess is Evening Enchantment. There are several pics of it here in the database that you can compare with.
I have EE, and it does look a lot like yours. Could you take another picture this evening? EE holds its dark color all day, and knowing this could also help in identifying it.
Yours is very pretty!

Thank you for the information, Regina. I will be glad to take another photo late afternoon. The flower height is approximately 25".

This lovely small flowered double orange NOID was a catalog order and was supposed to be Destined To See. Obviously, not even close--you can imagine the surprise I got when it bloomed. However, I loved the flower, kept it and never placed an order with that company again. So now I guess we will call this one THE NOID FLOWER FORMERLY KNOWN AS DESTINED TO SEE.

@Heidi, your flower is probably Custard Candy, looks just like the one we have.

It is amazing how many of you have ordered named varieties and got something completely different. How hard is it for a grower, whether commercial or hobbyist, to know what he/she is selling? Sighing!

Ken, an absolute pet peeve of mine is mismarked plants. I was in Lowe's a couple of days ago and as usual, spotted the bad mistakes on the daylilies. There were red blooming DLS marked Little Business--complete with the picture of the red small flower, so I thought maybe they might really be Little Business. Then I walked over to the yellow flowering daylilies and guess what-they had the same marker. It gets worse. I checked some of the other yellow flowering daylilies, and they were marked Baby Betsy, with the pink flower picture. This is why I never buy plants at these places unless I know absolutely for sure that they are marked correctly, the flower matching the picture with the right description of the plant.
