I've been perusing Lapeirousia viridiflora for clues about its pollination. Moth or butterfly was mentioned but nothing definite. It does have a long tube to the nectary. I also see that it can be over 1 foot tall which would help its appeal. It's supposed to smell of clove. One reference I also come accross was an old page from the nursery where this was purchased. It's not on their sight currently. Seem this may have been a supplier mix-up. 🌾 I tip my hat to you.

Janet, I'm happy you figured that out as you were the BIG clue to the ID of this plant. I posted before I said that but was thinking... (no thinking icon Sad )

I'm glad to have helped Daisy, with the name changing going on recognition becomes hazardous.

The two people who previously named this plant thought it was Lapeirousia. They used to go on structure, now there's DNA which is taking some time to evaluate. Who knows, we might find Freesia is renamed Lapeirousia in the distant future. Hilarious!
