I ordered several mums from ACCENTS FOR HOME AND GARDEN

http://site.mawebcenters.com/a...

Chrysanthemum koreana 'Mei Kyo', Chrysanthemum pacificum, Chrysanthemum pacificum 'Pink Ice', Chrysanthemum rubellum 'Cleo's Pink', Chrysanthemum rubellum 'Legal Pad Yellow', Chrysanthemum rubellum 'Sheffield Yellow’, Chrysanthemum rubellum 'Venus'

the Mei Kyo and Sheffield Yellow are known heirlooms. Cleo's Pink and Legal Pad are suspect:)

Venus is grown from seed so results are variable.

At any rate, the price was right, $5 each for 4" pots. I have not ordered from Accents before. I will post results later this year.

@frankrichards16 I am just now starting to get seed catalogs (including plants, of course.) Now, the trouble starts with having to make lists, from where I want to obtain all the ones I would like to order. Meanwhile, there are already plants, roots, tubers, rhizomes & rooted cuttings that may take priority, over Marigold seeds ( from Burpee ) for about $6 a pkt. Glare which appear more like a Chrysanthemum...
I am uncertain how old a mum variety must be, for consideration as an 'heirloom' as by now, some of the rooted cuttings I may want, possibly qualify. That is, depeneding on the age of the cultivar I select.
Do you by any chance know, the age requirement, to qualify as "heirloom" for mums? & what about what used to be 'Shasta Daisy', is it in now Chrysanthemum, or still Leucanthemum?
I can't always recall things, as easily as I used to!
Thanks, Shawn

@ShawnSteve
Missouri Botanical Gardens: Leucanthemum x superbum, commonly called Shasta daisy, is a hybrid developed by Luther Burbank (1849-1926) in the 1890s near snow covered Mt. Shasta in northern California. Burbank crossed Leucanthemum vulgare (European oxeye daisy), Leucanthemum maximum (Pyrenees chrysanthemum), Leucanthemum lacustre (Portuguese field daisy) and Nipponanthemum nipponicum (Japanese field daisy) to produce Leucanthemum x superbum which was given the common name of Shasta daisy.

Leucanthemums were formerly included in the genus Chrysanthemum.

Also from Missouri Botanical Gardens: Nipponanthemum nipponicum, commonly called Nippon daisy, is a shrubby perennial which grows 1.5-3' tall. Features 2-3" diameter flower heads with white rays and green center disks. Flowers appear in fall on long stalks. Thick, oblong, coarsely-toothed, glossy, dark green leaves (to 3.5" long). Excellent and long-lasting fresh cut flower. Formerly known as Chrysanthemum nipponicum.

As far as Garden Mums, there is no specific definition as to how old it has to be to qualify.

Thanks Frank. I just get overwhelmed at times, by all these created hybridized plants & it can be quite a bit of information, to remember all of it... Then, even if I write down orders, planning well in advance, some years, the time has actually run out & it is June, before you know it!

This one, was called' 'Senkyo Kenshin', if I recall the name properly... This was a gigantic sized flowers, well, at least amongst some of Mums I grew anyway. At nearly ten inches across with.nice metallic brownish bronze, with some softer shading, along the outer petal tips. I had some difficulty, with producing seeds, but I tried...

Chesapeake, White Rain, or maybe even Icicles. I forgot...
