Hi Annie,..i do like Swans,..we get up to 70 or more close to where i live,.. some i know for years as they tend to nest in the same spot have cygnets and i keep track of them until they are big enough to fly away come winter,..when they return in spring its still easy to recognize the cygnets and parents,..the second year its impossible to recognize the Cygnets as they are full grown white Mute Swans.

The only swans I've ever seen are those introduced to the Hagerstown (Maryland) city park. They used to have black ones (as well as white) but those seemed to have died out over the years.

We have three species here,..Mute,..Bewicks,..and the very vocal Whooper,..when the Whoopers arrive them leave the water and graze on the meadows,.. i can hear them from my garden Whistling i like all of them,..Black Swans are only seen here in Parks,..they look very cute.
