Hi, the house that we will be moving into, has about 200 sq ft of it. I've battled it in the past but not on this scale. Cutting it back or digging it up hasn't made a dent in it. I don't want to poison it but will I have to?
Anyone have any tips

I know someone who covered it with thick black plastic for the summer. It gets no water and the black kinds of cooks it. This killed most of it , the remainder with brush killer.

A good brush killer is Tordon. You can get it at a Farm and Home type store. Home Depot and Lowes won't have it. All you have to do is break a couple stems, spray the stems and the plant dies. Just wear gloves and follow directions because it is potent but works great for weedy wood stemmed plants. We use it on bush honeysuckle that every now and then will pop up. We killed most but a few still come back every once in awhile.

That is a good question and I think the best answer is at least a week. If you don't drip any on the ground and get it straight onto the stems it shouldn't be much longer than that before it's safe. Best way to check would be to plant some annuals that are cheap like marigolds or petunias and see how they react. If they don't seem affected I would then go ahead and plant.
