Confederate Rose (Hibiscus mutabilis)

I don't know how easy this is to start from seed, but thought I'd offer it up. This is the double pink from my backyard in Houston. Mine is in a big pot and is currently about 6 feet tall. Leaves are now coming back after the winter.

If you want to try to grow it send me a personal message with your address.

Update: seeds have been taken. No more are available at this time.

@LynneHTx, I'm in zone 8 & would like to try growing one from seed, if you have enough. My sister had been looking for a hot (I think) pepper & was talking to my husband about them. My husband grew up around Galveston, Alta Loma, & Houston & said it was a pepper that grew wild there & that they called it turkey pepper because it had to be digested to germinate & turkeys ate them. Yet our local feed/seed store had never heard of them & couldn't order them!!!!

@kathy547 The pepper that grows wild here (usually a gift from the birds) is chile pequin.

Bird Pepper (Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum)

They are sold in the native plant nurseries here in Houston.

@beanurse4u. I divided all my seeds into just three packets. Possibly @kathy547 or @azgarden or @horntoad can reply if they are not going to use all theirs or you can ask me next winter when I should have some more after this summers blooms. Am sorry.....
