Depends on what kind of cacti were dealing with jungle ones like more moist earthy soil this family includes Easter and Christmas cacti

The desert cacti like fast draining gritty mix that drys out quickly desert cacti includes the barrel cacti clomer ones and many others

Hello duane, if you are going to use regular potting mix for Schlumbergera, I would add some pumice or perlite, to make it well draining, or mix in some fine orchid bark too, and use containers with drain holes. They like to get moderately moist, not too soggy wet, and drain well to dry out but not too dried so roots gets good air below soil line too.
