This is a photo of my ball planter with string of pearls. I make these out of hypertufa. This on is 12" in diameter. I'm going to try a 10" hanging one as soon as it gets warm here in western PA.

Enjoy!

We have a few hypertufa containers that we have made. I bought all the materials to make more last fall, but never got around to it. I would like to also try the draped concrete saturated burlap like I've seen on this forum. I believe David of Deland posted them.

Has anyone heard from David? We saw him and his gardens last May, but we have not heard from him since or seen him post.

Ric I haven't seen David for a very long time. Hope all is well with him.

Mar, love your round hypertufa container. I'm with Cyndy, what did you use for a mold? And how thick is it. Also how old is it?

To make the ball planter I use 2 half sphere molds I buy on ebay. ($20 a half + shipping) I bolt the halves together and then use an inflatable playground ball inside. I start with a 10” ball so the planter ends up being ¾” - 1” thick. You can make the walls a little thinner by inflating the inner ball more. After the hypertufa sets, I deflate the ball and pull it out. I started making these planters this past summer so it is about 8 months old.
