I could be wrong, but I think that is just a new leaf?

I agree It looks like a new leaf. On the bright side, it's growing.

It's excieting to see scapes forming for people, we're almost there!

Waves of Joy, how exciting! And DD!
I took pics today of Lava Flow with its two very unexpected scapes. Took my garden map out with me too to make sure I didn't have the wrong one. Smiling
I got it last season in July, and it bloomed in August. To see it bloom this early is a complete surprise.
Please ignore the aphids; lady bugs have arrived though! Hurray!

I'll get another picture in a day or so. It'll be easier to see. I cropped the picture but it's just forming and hard to depict in the pic.

I wanted to make a couple of stops at daylily gardens on this trip, but it does not look like that is going to happen. I do have some plants on order from Ballard's Daylily farm near me next week. I am hoping to have several plants with scapes by then(I know of four at the moment). I was hoping to be able to go by JTM and Dancing Daylilies, but maybe next time. I have had oodles of time and access to the internet on this trip, so I was able to do a lot of work on my plant list, but unfortunately, we had to spend more money on some unexpected expenses so the daylily budget was depleted. Still I do have plans for 17 new varieties this spring and I will put the others off till fall.

Sadly enough it started freezing the day after Sad

All in all it was a very mild Winter and my dormants are growing rapidly Thumbs up
It rained yesterday and today, but we're expecting a sunny day tomorrow with 55F, so I'll be checking

I've got 3 plants with scapes. This is way too early for scapes here. I don't expect very good blooms on them, it's just too cool out still. Wonder it I should just cut them down? Peak bloom here is generally mid June. And one of them looks like a bloom could open any day now.

Have had scapes for a couple of weeks now, should start seeing bloom this coming week. Had the first bloom on "LILLIAN'S SHADOW DANCER" yesterday which is at least a month early.

Baby seedlings planted in Sept 2015

Scapes are well above the foliage
