Location: San Diego

This is a young tree that is in my yard. I recognize the leaves from trees I have seen in my area in parks and hiking trails. The trees get pretty big. I only have the leaf picture for now. The other photos I took were out of focus.

Cupaniopsis anacardioides

One of the common names for this tree is "carrotwood" but look it up by the latin name listed above.
Common names vary across the country.

These trees self seed like crazy...which some people hate. They do make nice shade trees and grow fast here in So. Cal.
They're very popular and there are 2 camps of people who like these trees. They either love them or hate them.
I happen to like them and have never had an issue with them being problematic.

I would like a tall tree in the area it is growing so I will keep it for now.
