Hello friends,

I am new to this forum and daylily and plan to order my daylilies, I picked what I like but don't know if they will be great for my area ( Fort Worth, North Texas zone is 7B) these are my choices but I probably will only get probably half for now :

Blueberry Breakfast,

Lord of Rings

Spacecoast Surprise Purple

Ruby Spider

Absolute Treasure

Awesome Blossom

Edge of your Seat

Two Part Harmony

Siloam Double Classic

Femme de Joie

Circle of Friends

Outrageous Fortune

Orange Velvet

We have a very hot Summer, hardly any Spring (almost all my Daffodils, Hyacinths, Dianthus has been blooming right now). Winter can be mild but we also have some Winter with Snow and Ice..... My soil is basically consisted of Limestone with a little topsoil, so I plant mine in raised beds with amendments...

Thank you so much for your help and have a wonderful and blessed week !

Welcome to the forum javaMom. I would hope someone in your zone will answer your question, looking at your list I would think any of those would thrive. I am in zone 9 so I can't be sure about any dormants.

Nan,

I am in Shreveport, La, zone 8. I have grown Blueberry Breakfast, Ruby Spider, and Awesome Blossom. I have since removed them from my garden due to space, but they all did great in my garden.

Also, I have never grown Siloam Double Classic, but I have grown several other Siloams and again, they all did great.
Thanks
Ford

I am in a much warmer zone than you. The only one I have on your list is Siloam Double Classic. I love this cultivar. It is indeed listed as a dormant, but it must not be a hard dormant because it thinned back over my warm Winter, but did not go completely dormant. It is now putting out new foliage. Seems to have multiplied a little as well. I love the blooms!

Welcome! JavaMom,
Though my climate here is different than yours would be, I can grow dormants just fine in my zone 8b garden. I would think you could too. Early bulbs are already blooming here as well. You've got some good choices there. I grow these from your list and all do exceptionally well here. Blueberry Breakfast, Ruby Spider, Edge of your Seat, Two Part Harmony, Siloam Double Classic, Femme de Joie, Orange Velvet. I don't think you can go wrong on any of these. Welcome to the wonderful world of growing daylilies. But watch out, they can be addictive! Smiling
