Hi

I am working in alstroemeria breeding, but I am having a big problem with the germination of the seeds.
I really need some expert advice to figure this out.

Could you please help me??

Welcome to ATP Welcome!

If you are working with hybrids, chances are the seed won't germinate.

I think they need cold stratification to germinate. Put the seeds in damp peat moss in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator for a month.

Hi Daisyl

I am giving them cold stratification for 3 weeks... I have tried wet chambers and darkness, but nothing....

Do you know method to test the viability of seeds?

I'm curious to know if Thompson-Morgan's technique for testing viability works. Keep us informed.

Good luck with your program!
