I'm trying to find out when African Daisy (Arctotis The RaversĀ® Pink Sugar)was made available for sale. We have a pink one here that I may have mis-ID and knowing when this was introduced would confirm it. Ours looks more like A.'Flamingo' or....

As this particular African Daisy has a trademark right in its name, maybe you can go back to the original hybridizer.

A quote from San Marcos growers: "We received this plant from Florexpo-Gloeckner as part of Amerinova's Ravers series and, like the Sun Spot series, this plant is from the breeding program of Graham Noel Brown of Nuflora International in New South Wales, Australia."

Having a hard time locating a patent number for this one, though I have found a couple of others in the same series. If I had a patent number, finding the info you want would be much easier.

2 other plants in the series (Sunspot, Pumpkin Pie) were released in 2004. Another (Bumble Bee) was in 2008. Having trouble nailing down others....

Thanks Rob! You got further than me. The time frame of those makes me think my pink one is not A. 'Pink Sugar'. Doesn't look quite right. No orange eye. I'm going to ask to move it to the parent page until I can resolve this. I tip my hat to you.

I know nothing about African Daisys - except that 12 degreen temps will kill them. Smiling

I did notice though that your 'pink' did not look exactly like their 'pink'.

This plant is listed as PPAF so I don't think it would have a patent number assigned yet. Looking through a number of plant patents including those you mentioned, I didn't see any that took more than two years. Since this one has not recieved a patent yet, I would think that it has been out less the two years.

Thanks Jay that makes perfect sense to me and it seems to me that it has only been around for a few years. I had the pgito moved to the parent entry.
