Hi, loving that it is almost Spring again. I was looking thru the Popularity Polls for 2015 and thought it might be good for a conversation. Do you agree with your Region
winners? Would you like to add some that did well in your garden?

I use this to add to my garden. I love strong plants! Many are not the latest, but have proven to be very good in the garden.

I sent my Region 10 vote in for:

Code:

God Save the Queen

Ashton's Giggles

Beautiful Edges

Ruby Spider

I see that Rose F. Kennedy is on some lists? Would anyone care to share how it did for you if you are currently growing it. Thanks

I agree with the region 2 results. I do have a few that I would add to that list.
Static Shock (Gossard 2006) This is a standout beauty! It had several fused blooms in 2015 and they looked even better.

Purple Cheetah (Gossard 2006) Purple Cheetah is one of my favorite purple's. It always opens good and the foliage looks great all season.

Gossard's daylilies do great in my gardens. I'm about 100 miles south of Heavenly Gardens, and hope to visit someday.

Thanks for your responses. I like both of those Gossard plants. Purple Cheetah is so unique. Hurray!

I think the spots on the purple cheetah make it look kind of 'melted' you know after they have been in the hot sun, but I guess that is just me. I have Webster's Pink Wonder and love it.

The only one I have, being in region 2, is Primal Scream, and I totally agree with that choice.

Cindy, I just added Primal Scream last year, so I don't really know how it will do. I am hoping it lives up to the my high
expectations.

I would be glad to hear what was some of the top performers in your gardens.

@Bluegrassmom Your Welcome. Thank You for starting the thread, it's a fun topic. Your pictures are beautiful.

@Frillylily It could be a melting affect that causes the spotting. The spots show up better the hotter it is outside. I had never really thought about it.

@Hemlady Hello, good to see you!

I agree the pictures are beautiful, but I copied and pasted them from our database. I think it helps to see pictures of the plants I am speaking about Rolling my eyes. I also live in Butler Co. lol

That's alright, they are still beautiful. You'll have your own beautiful pictures this year.

That's cool, I didn't know Kentucky had a Butler County too. Massachusetts has a Butler County also. I wonder how many states have a Butler County. Lol

What was the best ones in your garden, Liz?

I am so glad that it is warming up! I worked today in Mom's mixed bed that is located beside her garage. We have TB iris and 4 daylily clumps there. Ruby Spider, Big Kiss, Ed Murray and Bonanza. Everything is coming back to life Hurray!

I pulled a few weeds and added a bit more new mulch.

Karen...You've single handedly placed 'Purple Cheetah' on the most wanted list.

She sure did...I order a double fan from Oak Hill Daylilies last fall and got four fans. They are just starting to peek above the soil. It's a dormant and I hope it does well in my hot humid area.

Pat, Purple Cheetah looks better with heat and humidity. I can't wait to see your beautiful bloom pictures this year. Please, share with us!
I just ordered Jerry Hyatt from Bonnie at Oakhill Daylilies. I want to breed it with Purple Cheetah and see what they create.

Karen, I won three fans of Jerry Hyatt on the Lily Auction for spring delivery. It resembles Purple Cheetah...maybe they have some of the same genes. I can't wait to see what the blooms look like on both!

I love Bonnie Nichols at Oakhill Daylilies...she is so very nice and generous with her bonus plants. Purple Cheetah and jerry Hyatt should make some fantastic babies.

I love Bonnie, she's fantastic and very enabling. It's my Christmas in Spring when I get my shipment from her. Maryott's is my Summer celebration shipment.

I agree with and have the following:

Ruby Spider
Webster's Pink Wonder
Red Volunteer - was that on a winning list?
Bela Lugosi
Heavenly Angel Ice

I don't have many of them or they are new.

I would add - these are all fantastic:

Voila Francois
Upgrade
Mary's Gold
Early Snow
Jungle Beauty
Karen Leigh
Indian Giver
Grape to Meet You
Alabama Jubilee
all the Polston daylilies I have: Kiss Of Darkness, Anna Irene Polston, and Casting Crowns
Origami Pink Wink
Humungausaur
Hawkwoman
Celtic Merchant
Blue Eyed Butterfly

I could never pick one, but if I could only one of every color, I would chose:

Black - Bela Lugosi
Purple - Kiss Of Darkness
Lavender - Hawkwoman
Orange - Alabama Jubilee
Pink - Casting Crowns
Red - Ruby Spider
White - Early Snow
Cream - Voila Francois and Karen Leigh (I would NOT be able to choose)
Yellow - Mary Todd
Gold - Mary's Gold
and Blue Eyed Butterfly
Have a Happy Daylily Day!!
