I heard that backstory at the last swap! Hilarious!

I think I have the "party people" list updated at the top. Based on it, I'll ask Dave to add CAM, Chantell, and tantefrancine to the swap participants list in the swaps tool. You can go ahead and start entering plants in your "primary swap list," then click on them from there to activate them for the swap once you're on the list.

If we have other people sign up, we'll just ask Dave to add them also. Eventually, he'll probably tweak the programming to let hosts do this... but this is only swap #7, so I think he's waiting to see what other tweaks might be useful. :-)

@Chantell, the tool is pretty easy to use. See http://garden.org/thread/view_...

I just updated that post with additional tips/answers that have come up on this thread. Tell me if I missed a useful point!

@gitagal, I'm assuming you remain adamant about not participating with the ATP swaps tool. If you change your mind, LMK.

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Jill--
I am not adamant. I just don't want to take the time to work this all out in my pea-brain.
It may be easier than it seems--but the terminology and the steps..and the deadlines..
and the # of requests, the "begin" times and the "end" times.etc,,,etc,,,seem to me too regimented.
I want this to be more like it has been--because "I get that". No problems.
I truly believe that, you, Jill, "don't get" that to me this seems extremely complicated.

I understand that for you and SS and David and Jeff etc. --all the computer virtuosos--
this may be a piece of cake. Not for me! I like to be comfortable with what I do--not stress out over it.

Even at work (HD)--I can talk my head off about plants and gardening and be totally relaxed with it,
--but if someone asks me anything about Mowers and trimmers and tractors, or power-washers (all in garden too)
this invisible curtain just pulls shut over my brain--and it refuses to try to "process it".

SO--I will take the easy way out. "Haves and Wants" in the Discussion Thread as it has always been.
So far I have zero of anything to share...yet.. Maybe,
just once, I will arrive with, one box of some plants--a couple gifts for the table-and some food.

Have to start separating my seedlings--so there may be some to share. They are getting VERY tall!

Please--"get it" and don't fuss with me about not participating in the swap tool. It is NOT mandatory.

????I am curious??? how many of our Swap "regulars" from past Swaps may not come to this one as they
also feel intimidated over this "TOOL"???? aybe assuming that it is the ONLY way to now list haves and wants" ???

It would be interesting to compare lists of attendees between 1914--1915---and now.??? Glare

I like the swap tool a lot but it's not perfect. For example, you can't claim more than one of the same item. But I still prefer it over the old way which required so much editing and re-editing!

I can't imagine the tool being a deterrent to someone joining the swap, especially when it's not even mandatory. If anything, I think negative and argumentative tone in the threads might scare off a newbie. So I suggest taking it to private tree mail for further discussions on this particular topic, especially if it can't be kept to a civil tone. Thank You! I tip my hat to you.

The tool doesn't intimidate me, per se, it was great for seed swap. I don't think many people who are interested would let that keep them away.

But with my currently limited swapping, I would rather just use the have/ wants thread, myself.

If anyone notices any plants in my posts or DG journal that you would like to have, please tree-mail me and ask, chances are I have enough to share and am happy to do so. Direct tree mail would be the best way to make sure I get your request.

and HELLO CHANTELL!!!
Plant it and they will come.

Either way works! I just wasn't going to ask Dave to add Gita to the list if she's not using the swaps tool... it wasn't my intention to "fuss" with you, Gita. Peace!

Offering a Suggestion for now to end of swap:

Anyone who indicates that they are coming to the swap be enrolled by @Dave via Critter on this swap's Swap Tool and leave it up to them to use or not use this feature.

Both lists should be the same and inclusive.

Thanks for listening.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin Group hug !

PS CAM, someone called it 'the stuck key' defence but I like the 'fat fingers' explanation for my sp/over usages!

I'm always happy for chickweed...for that matter if anyone has that dang regular milkweed that doesn't seem to show it's head again for me....hmmm might be user error there come to think of it.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Chantell, we've never met and I'm just a year into my association with the group. So..... just curious why you have a photo of Reba McEntire as your profile pic. Big country music fan ? Shrug!

I'm quite sure Chantell can find plenty of chickweed in my garden! That's one of those early "weeds" that dies back well enough that I don't bother much about it. I still haven't made any pesto with it, though.

We are walking about a half mile a couple times a day. YAY!!

Cam, we are leaving from Port Canaveral, RCL's private beach area-Labadee, Jamaica, Grand
Cayman, and Cozumel. These are new ports for us. I'll make sure Jeff wears a sun shirt to protect the zipper running down his chest.

Jan, we are going to miss you at the swap, but that sounds like a wonderful cruise and fun in the sun is always a good thing! Incredible progress that Jeff is making - so glad to hear that all is going well.
