I've been posting these on my Facebook page for almost two months. It occurs to me maybe I should do that here too. Since I'm way behind, I'll post 4 or 5 daily until I catch up. Please feel free to post YOUR pictures of the designated hosta.

This is a fairly mature 'First Frost'. Picture taken June 21 in a zone 5a. The margins emerge bright yellow and gradually turn creamy white.

Ann, your First Frost is lovely. I have it as well as Autumn Frost but they need a few years to develop yet. Both are planted in an south east facing bed that get quite a bit of sun especially in the spring before the ash trees leaf out; their colour looked a little faded last year so hope they will adjust. June is in that bed as well and has more of the yellow colouring in that position. I do love the more bluer coloration of June in the shade so plan to get another or a division for a more shady spot.

First Frost is one of my favourites, because it's thick enough to discourage slugs and because it really does continue until the first frosts. Nice photo of a healthy clump! Thumbs up

One of my first frost plants has put up a sport that has leaves that are half white and the other half variagated. Is this halvsy thing normal?

Many of the plants which look abnormal will stabilize later. Many streaked seedlings end up with edges rather than streaking once they are established. It might be a very interesting sport. See if it looks the same next year.

Adding a couple of pictures from 2016 - the first from mid-May and the second from Aug. 5.
