I am getting a 'not authorized' message on all three links. Did a search for Cayeux Iris on Facebook and am looking at them that way. Is that an award of merit? Looks impressive. I tip my hat to you.

Sorrt for the links. I will check why they did not work. Thank you for telling me.
Yes this a a very important Award of Merit, delivered by the Minister of Agriculture, which means the French goverment. Something to be really proud ouf. I think Richard Cayeux is the first hybridizer to be rewarded that way.

The second link is opening on a Michèle Bersillon's iris "La Part des Anges' (name is related with Cognac!). Michèle is born in the U.S. and she is living in France. Both our two countries can be proud of her. She is the only French hybridizer in the Cayeux catalogue.

Please let me know if the new links work. The previous ones are working with my computer. I think that we can encounter problems with the two continents, either with links or with searching engine.

Michele is the hybridizer of three little SDB's that I want. Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod. I hope they come to the U. S. smiles

Worked, thank you.

Michele does some great work. Think she has some listed in the U.S. with Stout Gardens.

What an admirable award. I tip my hat to you.

Hi Bonnie. . . just a quick remark about Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod: Hugh Stout tells me that he doesn't yet have enough of Nod to put them in the catalogue as a "set", so I will be sending him some more of Nod this year, too. I don't know if he yet has enough of my new MDB, Pain d'Épices, to sell them or not, though the plant increases quite well. Sent more of them last year, too. It has a rather wonderful spicy perfume, exactly like spice cake that is very popular in eastern France.

Michele, @auxiris

Hello. Alot of your introductions we (ATP) don't have pictures for! And some are missing description information (like color & type). Is there any way you could post pictures of the ones we are missing? Or better yet; how about posting pictures of all of your introductions. The database only shows 22 introductions, but you have at least 23 since "Pain d'Epices" is not listed.

Here is what we are missing pictures of:

A La Folie
Blinkin
Nod
Winkin
Beau Tenebreux
Coeur d'Hiver
Comedie Francaise
Conte de Fees
Derviche
Ecume de Mer
Endimanche
Lune Bleue

For "Pain d'Epices"

Reg year?
Intro year?
Classification? SDB?
Seedling number?
Color
type (self/plicata/ect)
height?
season (early/mid/late??)
parents?

Are there any other introductions we are missing?

Let me know how I can help. Thanks!!!! Greg

Hello Greg;
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify my own position concerning photographs of my plants in general and my own photographs of them in particular. For example, the photo of Pain d'Épices above is one of my own, a "work" photo I took two years ago and I only included it here for Bonnie's benefit; it isn't intended for use in anyone's database. Pain d'Épices is not yet introduced, thus its current official status is that of "named seedling" and I am in the process of sending stock to my American distributor, Hugh Stout. As I am not a commercial garden---and as such, I dispose of limited in garden space---multiplying various cultivars can be a complicated business, not to mention shipping them from France the the United States; I will spare you the horror stories concerning last year's shipping efforts. Some of the plants on your list have not been and will likely not be introduced, such as Beau Ténébreux, Derviche, Écume de Mer, Endimanché and Lune Bleue. They are named seedlings. A la Folie I'm not sure about introducing and its status and that of Conte de Fées is still named seedling. Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod will eventually be introduced by Stout Gardens, but are not currently commercially available. I am not sure if Cœur d'Hiver has ever been sold in the United States and Comédie Française is an introduced plant, so I'm sure there are photos of it somewhere---at least I would hope that there would be finally, after the total disaster that Filardi made of the introduction of Comédie Française, La Part des Anges and Avant-Première. Interestingly enough, your list does not include Comme un Volcan, which won a gold medal at the Munich International Iris Competition and was subsequently introduced in the States by Stout Gardens.

About photos: I tend to take a hard line view of the use of my iris photographs; I have had a lot of problems with various websites concerning unauthorised use of my photos, to the point where I have been, in two cases, obliged to produce the ORIGINAL photo in order to prove that it is my work and belongs to me! The AIS iris wiki had even given credit for one of my photos to another photographer and refused to believe it was mine until I produced the original, so perhaps you can understand that I am somewhat more cautious these days.

Having said all that, I do not see the interest of including named seedlings in the All Things Plants database. I would prefer that Pain d'Épices not be included until such time as it is introduced; it was only registered last year, so eventually the information concerning it will be in the upcoming R&I---but it is not yet commercially available.

Hello Michele. I remember the issues with your photos and understand why you are cautious about property. And as to little Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod..... I will be standing in line when they are available. And that little MDB you listed above will be a must have for the fragrance alone. I am hoping they increase rapidly. Thank you for the update.

I seem to have forgotten our discussions on the subject over on "Cubits" a few years ago. One of the issues I am trying to do is put pictures to introductions in our database. There is an issue with the ATP Iris database in my opinion. We take all of the info from the AIS. The issue for me is the irises that are registered but not yet introduced. I do not favor displaying this information. I think we do it with the expectation that it WILL become an introduction. When it does not however, we are left with "extra" data that makes no sense.

I assumed that we had somehow missed the introduction information and was looking to update the ATP database. I feel that the best way an iris can inspire us to do so in a picture. I was just trying to fill the holes.

As an example; I have been loading up "Cayeux" pictures to the database and there have been 7 cultivars that did not have any pictures associated with them.

Sorry for my forgetfulness and for bring this up again.

I can see Michele's point. I have a couple registered seedlings & have to get enough stock for introduction. There are seedling photos under number but until introduction I don't like them seen unless I am talking to hybridizers. I sometimes post seedling photos under number which are main of interest to hybridizers. I have fewer plants to introduce as I am definitely slowing down. So I am sure hers will be available when there is enough stock.
