I just love the new of spring!

What is new in your neck of the woods?

Redbud trees are budding

Dewberry bloom has a cute little bee hovering over it. I wish I could have gotten a better picture of the bee, it was so interesting the way it silently hovered over the flower as if it were floating... but never landed.

This is the second year I've seen Heal All with variegated leaves. Interesting.

Oak trees are starting to bud too.

Oh scented and beautiful; that makes me want to grow Texas Mountain Laurel even more. I'm going to have to give it a try!

We are lucky this year, looks like an early spring that will stick! I hope. Smiling

Lovely pictures of spring. I don't have any of my natives blooming here yet, still kind of early. So far just a few of my earliest crocuses are blooming. The weather has been very warm into the 50s and 60s, and I saw a few flies and spiders out and about enjoying the sunshine. Yesterday while doing some garden cleanup I heard and saw probably 1000+ sandhill cranes flying over. Large groups passed over every few minutes for hours... a sure sign of spring. The robins have started scouring the yard for worms too. No bees seen here yet though.

@ wildflowers, I think that bee in your picture may actually be Bombylius major - Greater Bee Fly. The shape and color look about right to me and they hover and move like a hummingbird. I've only seen them a couple of times, but got this picture of one at rest a few years ago.

Neat picture, Molanic. That's exactly what it looked like. Thank you!

The sandhill cranes and other birds sound awesome. The birds and bees are getting "active" here too. Big Grin I noticed the other day just before it started to rain there were so many birds singing in the trees. Ironically, it sounded like a rainforest, with lots of activity going on, inclucing two Mississippi Kites and two Redtail Hawks mating!

Oh, I can't forget the Spring Beauties, they're one of my very favorites, also starting to bloom. They will be done blooming and going to seed some time next month.

I'll save you some seeds, Frostweed. Big Grin As long as my DH follows instructions and doesn't mow at least one area where Spring Beauties and other wildflowers are growing! He's getting better so I'm going to stay positive!

So far so good on the wildflowers. So much rain, it's been too wet for dh to mow the back pasture. There should be lots of wildflowers soon. Hurray! Green Grin!

I have Spring Beauty seeds. Smiling

I would post more pictures but having computer problems. I better get it fixed so I don't miss all the flowers coming up!
