How big is this branch? I have rooted small cuttings - 2 or 3 feet - in water or by sticking them in the ground where I wanted them to grow.

I suspect any size branch would root. Its a willow.

Yes, as Daisy said, willows really root easily. We had a big long corkscrew pruning piece spontaneously take root in my daughter's garden one year. I had just used it as a stake for another plant so sadly, instant tree where we didn't really want it. It must have been 5ft. long. So I do think you just "stick them" in the ground or a pot, and keep them watered.

Not that I've rooted either but I agree willows typically are easy, but is this corkscrew hazel (Corylus avellana 'Contorta') or corkscrew willow (Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa')?
