Finally, my Moon Flower has been trying to bloom since January but the blooms were always puny and would partially open then fall over even though it was warm.

Aren't the hummingbird moths that pollinate them amazing? Of course the cats are vicious if you are growing one of their host plants, lol

In a previous house I had a swing on the back deck with a trellis behind and over it. I grew moon flower on the trellis. I was always fascinated with those moths. It was always kind of dark when they came, so for the longest time, I thought they were hummingbirds.

@chris1948 How tall does your vine get? I just had some seeds germinate so Im a far way away from having blooms , but I'm looking forward to them.

Hi Anna, no, I've had one in the same spot for many years. I cut it down in Oct but there were new ones coming up already from seedpods that had burst before I had the chance to collect them or put my mesh bags around them.

Very nice! I think some of the earlier comments were referring to the vine, which I have never grown

Yes, I thought you meant vine but surprised you haven't seen the moths if you have had a datura for many years

I guess I've just never looked Jolana. Now that you've told me about them I'll take a couple of my solar flood lights and point towards it and just sit quietly and see if I can see them.
