Been gardening for 40 or so years and as many of you know, I grow any and everything. Pretty close to literally.

Was glancing at the spring planting bulbs today and there it was ...

something I have never grown before....ever ....

ARUM VooDoo Lily. Drooling

Which I promptly purchased. Hurray! Big Grin

Me thinks I may not be so pleased with myself come bloom time. hehe

NAH .... (my wife may not be so happy with my purchase) Rolling on the floor laughing

Still trying to figure out if it is hardy in my Zone 5b - not that I let the zone thing bother me. Rolling my eyes.

Sighing! Sighing! Sighing!

Just checked the database and there are 3 completely different species shown as Arum and/or Voodoo Lily. My package I bought does not have a latin name - simpy says Arum Voodoo Lily.

Sighing! Sighing! Sighing!

This is soooooo confusing.

David,
Oh my! Beautiful, but get it out of the house!!

I had an amophophallus. It was a small bulb so for a few years it just put up the neatest umbrella like foliage. Then it bloomed.... in the winter... I was desperate so I put it out on the unheated porch. Then I set it all the way outside and aired out the house and porch. It was horrible!! The bloom was a gorgeous cinnamon brown and the plant was only 2 and 1/2' tall.

The lady who gave me the bulb forgot about hers and this tiny woman was on her porch trying to move a refrigerator out to find the dead mouse. Then she remembered the plant in the basement, lol!

Two stems poking up ~ 1 inch. I have about 10 containers of summer blooming "bulb" plants that I have been leaving on my driveway and they get morning sun. Brought in 2 nights when it got pretty chilly.

Oooh, creeping up! We need pictures. I forget how they look when they grow.
I have Zephyr lilies that I need to get out of the dark. Trouble is, now it's too cold to set them out and if I set them in, the cats will eat the leaves. If they has any....

Sally - Garage? It has now been quite mild so I actually starting to move stuff to my screen porch - Tropical Hibiscus and Jasmine. The poor Jasmine looks the worst it has in 30 years. We pulled it out of the pot today and the roots looked fine. I think I may have over watered it.

Next to go is my White Bird of Paradise which currently resides behind my LR chair. Hilarious!

The VooDoo stem is maybe 1 & 1/2 inch now. So far wife has NOT discovered it. Angel Whistling
Nor my Vanilla Orchid I bought from DrDawg Angel Angel Angel

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing You should really find a way to record your wife's reaction when she smells it for the first time and realizes where it's coming from.

To be very frank, I am not so sure that I want to smell it for the first time. I was just imaging the other day, sticking my nose in to smell it and the blowing luch. Yech.

Just WTH was I thinking?

David,
We were down to 27° this morning. It might be too cold in the garage for them. And, I keep forgetting to even look at them. Making a note right now!
Our screened in porch is covered with plastic so it stays nicer out there. Trouble is, the cats sit out there too.
Oooh, I see we need a lot of pictures of your plants. A white ''bird'' sounds beautiful!
Hiding an orchid too? Bring that out when she smells mouse, lol!
You won't have to stick your nose in it. It will find you!

Pepper,
ROTFL!! We all think that till we smell it. Then we can't throw it out in the snow fast enough!! Rolling on the floor laughing
